Most people think confidence comes before taking action.

In reality, confidence is built by showing up when you’re unsure, trying something new when it’s uncomfortable, and coming back again the next day.

Every person in this photo started as a beginner. They didn’t know the techniques, they didn’t know the terminology, and many of them were nervous walking through the door for the first time. What separates them isn’t talent, it’s consistency.

To our students: keep showing up. The small efforts you make today become the skills, confidence, and resilience you’ll be proud of tomorrow.

And if you’ve been thinking about trying Jiu Jitsu, this is your sign. You don’t have to be in shape, athletic, or experienced. You just have to be willing to take the first step.

Come try a free week with us. We’d love to meet you.

As we prepare for upcoming tournaments, our youth competition training will be incorporated into our Wednesday 5:00 PM Advanced Youth Class.

Current Advanced Class students should continue attending as usual. This class remains an important part of your development.

This is a more serious, faster-paced training environment designed to help athletes prepare for competition. Students can expect increased live training, more challenging rounds, greater personal responsibility, and a higher level of focus and engagement throughout class.

For students interested in competing who are not currently attending Advanced Class, please speak with a coach. We’d be happy to help determine if this training environment is the right next step based on their age, experience, maturity, and overall readiness for the expectations of the class.
Our goal is to make sure every athlete is training in the environment where they’ll learn, grow, and be most successful.

We’re excited to see our competitors continue to sharpen their skills while helping raise the level of the entire room as we prepare for the upcoming tournament season!

Competition season is here!

To help our athletes prepare for Revolution, we’ll be adding a Sunday Competition Class at 11:00 AM through the tournament.

This class is designed for competitors ages 13+ and will focus on competition-specific training, strategy, situational rounds, pacing, and preparing for the unique demands of tournament day.

If you’re not currently registered to compete but are interested in helping our competitors prepare, please speak with one of our coaches to see if this class would be a good fit for your current goals and experience level.

Please note: There will be NO competition class on Sunday, June 28, as we’ll be hosting Dean Lister at Renzo Gracie Sammamish for a special seminar.

Most people spend their lives hoping they’ll never need to defend themselves.

And honestly, I hope you never do.

But there’s a big difference between hoping and knowing.

Knowing you can stay calm under pressure.
Knowing how to create space.
Knowing how to trust your instincts.
Knowing that if a situation goes sideways, you have options.

That’s what these classes are about.

Not fear.
Not worst-case scenarios.
Not learning how to “fight.”
They’re about confidence.

The kind that comes from understanding your body, your voice, your boundaries, and what to do when someone tries to take those things away from you.

Every month, we meet women who walk through the door feeling nervous, uncertain, or intimidated. By the end of class, they’re standing a little taller, moving a little more confidently, and realizing they’re capable of far more than they thought!

Our next FREE Women’s Self-Defense Workshop is Saturday, June 27 from 12:30–2:00 PM at Renzo Gracie Snoqualmie.

Open to ages 12+.
No experience necessary.
Bring a friend, sister, daughter, mom, coworker, or come by yourself.

Because there is something powerful about knowing you can take care of yourself if you need to.

The next tournament on our team calendar is The Revolution on July 18-19!

🥋 Adults compete Saturday, July 18
🥋 Youth compete Sunday, July 19

Registration is now open, and we strongly encourage competitors to register early. Not only is pricing lower, but the event has reached capacity in the past.

To register, visit LeapLLC.com and complete your registration through Smoothcomp.

When registering, please make sure your academy is listed as Renzo Gracie Snoqualmie. Keeping our team grouped together helps ensure we have enough coaches available and allows us to keep track of all of our athletes. This is a fast paced event with constantly changing times, this way nobody gets missed on competition day!

To help our competitors prepare, we will be adding a Competition Class for ages 13+ on Sundays from 11:00 AM–12:00 PM, beginning this Saturday, June 21. Competitors are encouraged to take advantage of this additional training opportunity. Teammates who would like to help our competitors prepare are also welcome but please check in with a coach so we can ensure the class is a good fit for your goals and experience level.

Youth Competitors: Our Wednesday Advanced Class will also be available to select competitors preparing for Revolution. Lower-belt competitors and some younger students may be invited on a case-by-case basis. Please speak with Professor Lindsey if your child is interested in competing and would like additional training opportunities.

Whether this is your first tournament or your fiftieth, competition is an incredible opportunity to challenge yourself, learn, and grow. If you’ve been thinking about competing but aren’t sure where to start, talk to one of our coaches, we’re happy to help guide you through the process.

Let’s get ready for another great weekend of growth, learning, and team support! 💪🔥

What if the goal isn’t to help kids avoid failure… but to help them learn how to handle it?

Every missed technique, tough round, and frustrating moment is an opportunity to build something far more valuable than a win: resilience.

Confidence doesn’t come from always succeeding. It comes from learning that you can struggle, adapt, and keep going anyway.

That’s where grit is built.
