Our children grew up here, but we get the most joy knowing our granddaughters get to enjoy the magic of our aviary. Here’s 2-year old Cora, gathering feathers from our peacock “Strut”. He’s molting this time of year and his feathers are spectacular.

NEWS FROM THE COOP:

This year, We didn’t think our peahen, “Sassy”would sit on eggs, so we had 4 in the incubator. About 10 days later, she decided she was ready, so we snuck the eggs under her! Since then, she has been so broody that she wasn’t leaving her nest to eat or drink!

If any of the eggs were fertile, we should have chicks soon! She left the nest briefly this morning…

NEWS FROM THE COOP: Today we welcomed to our Aviary a pair of stunning Yellow Golden pheasants and a flashy male Edward’s Pheasant!

NEWS FROM THE COOP: Lots of excitement today! Pheasant chicks hatching in the incubator and simultaniously, the arrival of 3 tiny peepers, currently being introduced to the other pheasants inside our Aviary!

Sunday, December 26th at 8am: it’s currently about 26° here. The horses don’t seem bothered by the snow and everyone is content and overfed. Driveway is still not too deep, but if it gets too bad, we’ll plow it with the tractor.
