💥 MFG Cyclocross Pumpkin Smash 💥

This past Sunday, Vertical World Cycling took on the first-ever MFG Cyclocross Pumpkin Smash at Swans Trail Farm in Snohomish, and what a wild one it was!

Half the course wound through a Washington-state-shaped corn maze, which was peanut-butter mud that made every pedal stroke count. Even though the lap was just over a mile, most riders were clocking 7–9 minute laps!

We had several teammates racing in Cat 4 and Cat 3, and let’s just say they all finished "tore up from the floor up" — but smiling! Huge props to everyone who braved the mud, kept the rubber side down (mostly), and showed that SnoCo grit. 🚴‍♂️

We also appreciate all of our team members and their families who came out to cheer us on!

Next up: the season ender at Woodland Park on Sunday, November 16. This has historically been the largest attended cyclcoross race in the nation!

🚴‍♀️ Race Recap – Lake Stevens Triathlon: September 6, 2025

Big congratulations to Katy Rader for an incredible performance at the Lake Stevens Triathlon!

Katy took 3rd place overall in the Olympic distance and also claimed 1st place in her age group (40–44). 💪🔥

She shared that this was her fastest bike ever in a race — and she credits all the recent team rides for helping her get there. Way to represent, Katy!

Silver Lake CX recap:
🌧️ Started = wet AF
☀️ Midrace = surprise summer vibes
🏖️ Sand = slightly less “cry while pedaling” thanks to last night’s rain.

Jim Hering and Scott Harder yeeted themselves through the beach section like two toddlers who found the sandbox at recess. 🚴💨

The heckle squad was LOUD, the donut handups were fun 🍩✨, and the vibes were immaculate.

Massive love to Vertical World North for keeping SnocoVelo / Vertical World Cycling fueled, fast, and slightly feral.

Tomorrow (Sunday) is the battle of the Sands at Silver Lake. I’ve heard so many people say how hard this course is. It’s pretty relentless, with deep sand, off camber hills and some fast grass crit sections.

With the impending rain tonight and tomorrow morning, the course should be “classic”. Come by and say hi at our tent along the course. We’ve got a few members racing at 10:30 and 12:30. We might even have some donuts….

Sometimes it takes a really nice day for an attendance like Saturdays team ride. We had a few guests join us that are considering joining our team.

This weekend, three of our team members braved the rain and mud at the NWGP at Lake Padden in Bellingham. Lane, Scott, and Lang powered through the swampy grass fields and tackled the challenging technical sections in the hills with determination. A special shoutout to Lane and Scott for earning 3rd place in their respective categories! Thanks to Lemon Peel Productions!

Congrats to all who raced and stood on the podium last weekend at the Lemon Peel Productions NWGP Northern State Cyclocross Race in Sedro-Woolley.

From their website, "An area with a unique and storied history. This one gives off vibes of being fast and furious but its got a few muddy surprises within the center part of the course. The venue is absolutely stunning and you'll face gravel, grass, mud and a few unique sections that will keep you on your toes."

Are you a local SnoCo cyclist?
Do you like pedaling on road, dirt, or gravel?

SnoCo Velo (operating as Vertical World Cycling) is currently accepting inquiries for new team members. The only requirement for membership is the purchase of a team kit (approx. $250) and be a good fit with the team. We offer a weekly team ride on Saturday mornings along with some great benefits.

We compete in cyclocross, road, MTB, multi-sport, and more - although competing is not required, supporting those that do is always encouraged! Learn more at and use the contact form if you are interested.

It certainly felt like an Autumn team ride today with the colder temps and the fog in the valley. Riding the hills around Lake Roesiger certainly helped with the chill!
