The International City School of Ballet

The International City School of Ballet Award-Winning Dance Education and Excellence in Classical Ballet Training Quality Instruction: due to small student-to-teacher ratios in our classes.

ICSB offers programs that will fit any dancer at any point in their training:

The International City School of Ballet has a strict syllabus appropriate for each level of ballet instruction that continuously builds each dancer's ballet foundation throughout their tenure in our School. We focus on developing new techniques correctly the first time they are taught and firmly believe that all dancers in each class must master the step before moving forward. The School desires to provide each dancer with a strong technique base that enables them to dance beyond their age limitation. The primary goal of the International City School of Ballet is to provide exceptional ballet instruction to our students. In doing so, we strive to create a healthy and positive atmosphere in which all dancers can develop strong dance technique, poise, confidence, musicality, creativity, and artistry. A Custom Fit: our syllabus is tailored to bring out the best in every dancer while addressing weaknesses to maximize progress. Invaluable Life Lessons: the powerful work ethic and attention to detail learned in ballet training can be translated to all situations and can prepare them to be succesful in any career or workforce. The Open Division: a program, similar to the Upper Division in age range and quality, but geared towards those searching for a needed boost in their technique, but are not necessarily interested in pursuing a career in classical ballet. Founded in 2004 in Warner Robins, GA, the International City School of Ballet, under the artistic direction of Ms. Georne Aucoin, embodied a strong desire and vision. The vision Ms. Aucoin had for the school was not only to educate dancers in the middle georgia area but also to educate the community with the performing arts. It was a school that would enable serious young dancers to receive extensive training year-round while also being able to experience valuable performance opportunities. Since then it quickly became a standard of excellence in dance education throughout GA and has generated widespread attention in the dance community. ICSB strives to enrich the lives of students through the introduction and study of classical dance. In order for students to triumph as dancers, the School has provided a select faculty of highly qualified professionals and a curriculum that blends discipline and enjoyment in equal measure. ICSB aims to challenges each dancer to reach their fullest indvidual potential and to understand a keener love for the art of dance. Students of ICSB have had the opportunity to participate in some of the world’s largest student ballet competitions such as the Youth America Grand Prix, World Ballet Competition, Prix de Lausanne, USA International Ballet Competition, etc.

THE ART OF PROGRESS // WHAT A DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES

One year can change far more than how a dancer moves. It can change how they understand the work, how they approach it, and what they begin to expect of themselves.

THE ART OF PROGRESS // BEFORE

A starting point is simply that: a starting point.

What matters is the capacity to learn, the curiosity to ask questions, and the willingness to engage fully with what is being taught.

THE ART OF PROGRESS // ONE YEAR LATER

Progress reveals itself in the whole of the dancing.

Greater clarity and coordination. A more organized use of the body. Movement informed by understanding rather than approximation.

The difference is not simply in what he can do, but in how he knows to do it.

THE ART OF PROGRESS // PROGRESS REQUIRES OWNERSHIP

Education asks for more than participation.

It asks the student to remain curious, to make connections, to test what they understand, and to continue engaging with the work long after the lesson has ended.

Eventually, corrections become ideas the dancer can recognize and apply without waiting to be reminded.

The measure of good training is not how much a student can be taught, but how much they learn to understand for themselves.

Summer 2026 // Natalya Lushina-Zeiger

Returning once again as a special guest teacher for ICSB’s 2026 Summer Intensive, Natalya Lushina-Zeiger works closely with students through an exacting study of classical technique.

A former soloist with the Bolshoi Ballet, Ms. Lushina-Zeiger holds a Master’s Degree in Dance Education from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy and serves as a principal teacher at The Rock School for Dance Education. Her longstanding relationship with ICSB brings an uncommon pedagogical lineage into the studio, where technical knowledge is transmitted with precision, discernment, and individualized attention.

Creating Resistance Where There Is None

What Ms. Georné is exploring here is imagined resistance, visualized resistance, or kinesthetic imagery. The dancer imagines pushing against something, treating the air as though it has weight or density. That visualization can change the muscular intention, timing, articulation, and quality of the movement.

Ms. Georné coaching ICSB alum Miharu Kikuchi (Miharu Kikuchi 菊池美春) in Aurora’s Act III variation from The Sleeping Beauty in preparation for competition.

THE ART OF PROGRESS // WHAT A DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES

There is extraordinary potential in a young dancer still discovering how to use her body. With thoughtful training, those early years become an opportunity to develop the physical understanding, coordination, and awareness upon which everything else will be built.

THE ART OF PROGRESS // BEFORE

Every dancer begins somewhere. The first step is seeing clearly what needs to develop, not just the visible result, but the understanding behind it.

THE ART OF PROGRESS // THE PROCESS

We made room for detail. For sensation. For repetition. For the focus required to understand not only what the movement should look like, but what has to happen physically to create it.

THE ART OF PROGRESS // ONE YEAR LATER

The vocabulary may look familiar. The dancer does not.

Greater organization, articulation, control, and intention now shape how she approaches the movement.

THE ART OF PROGRESS // PROGRESS IS FELT

The most meaningful progress becomes something a dancer can recognize for herself. She feels greater control, understands what created it, and begins to trust what she knows how to do.

That is where confidence begins.

STUDY WITH PURPOSE

Training should lead somewhere.

At ICSB, we believe dancers should be able to see and feel the difference their training is making. Greater strength. Clearer technique. More control. More confidence. A deeper understanding of how and why they move.

Progress looks different for every dancer, but thoughtful, consistent training should create meaningful and visible change over time.

FIND YOUR PATH

Every dancer’s path is different. For some, ballet is the primary focus. For others, strong classical training is an important part of a broader dance education, whether alongside other dance disciplines, academic commitments, or college studies.

At ICSB, we believe training should reflect the individual dancer, their goals, their needs, and where they hope to go. There is no single path that defines a serious dancer.

Not sure what training at ICSB could look like for you? Send us a DM or email us. We would be happy to start the conversation.

Sometimes a dancer needs more than a correction.

They need a teacher who can physically guide them into the position, help them feel the difference, and then teach them how to find it again on their own.

Ms. Georné’s personal, hands-on approach to teaching is at the heart of our Ballet Institute Year-Round Program.

Applications are now open for 2026–2027. Audition by invitation. Apply through the link in bio.
