With the crew tagged out for the spring it’s time to switch gears. Austin an Seth hit the water after work this evening to wet some lines an relax. They were able to catch a good mess of blue gill to put in the freezer. What a sunset it was to watch from the shoreline to end the evening

After taking his wife for the first week of the Wisconsin turkey season and being able to get his wife her first turkey, Trenton was up to bat for the second week. Saturday was a stressful one, dealing with birds that continued to hang up out of range all morning and into the early afternoon, Trenton decided to head home for the day and try again Sunday morning. After waiting out the rain and the wind all morning only having Jake’s come into the decoys Trenton knew the toms would be hitting the fields once the sun shined and decided to head to the other side of the farm to set up and was able to call this bird 300 yards across a open field right into his decoys and was able to tag out in Wisconsin.

Well another great morning in the Ohio woods. After filling his tag yesterday Austin set out this morning with his friend Seth Robert Snure after his first turkey. Had 3 birds gobbling around them when the got surprised by 3 hens an a gobbler that came in from behind. Seth was able to get turned around an make it happen on a great bird! Congratulations to Seth on his first turkey ever! Think it is safe to say that he’s hooked on it now!

Well opening morning of turkey season in Ohio was exactly how turkey hunting goes. Took Austin to the low of lows to start of the morning. But he stuck with it and came out on top. 6:20 the first bird of the morning gobbled. By 6:30 the gobbler and hen were in the field but didn’t like something and made quick work getting back to the woods. Picked up a moved 200 yards and at 7:25 had 4 birds coming in gobbling and strutting. Austin was able to get it done and end his 2025 spring season.

Was also opening morning in Wisconsin and Shelby (Trenton’s Wife) was lucky enough to draw an opening week tag to go after her first turkey. They put the work in trying a couple different setups on birds through out the morning. Just as they had gave up hope and started for the truck Trenton made a last ditch effort. AND MAN DID IT PAY OFF! Had 3 birds fired up came in gobbling and strutting which they put on a heck of a show for Shelby’s first bird! Congratulations on your first bird girl

Well what a hunting season staff member Trenton edgell has had this year. He killed a big bird right off the rip in Wisconsin this spring, killed at the time his biggest Wisconsin buck on opening day of bow season, came home to Ohio and only had a few hours in the stand before punching his tag on a old stud of a buck. To end his season Trenton punched his tag during the Wisconsin muzzleloader season on his now largest Wisconsin buck that showed up just before their gun season started and was able to figure him out for the muzzleloader season.

Well all the hard work and scouting finally paid off for Austin this evening. After a action packed morning hunt. While he was on his way into town to grab a bite to eat this buck showed up at 11:56. Austin went in for the evening hunt with high expectations. At 4:15 he was able to put a great shot on this buck and watched him go down within 60 yards. To his surprise this buck turned out to be a lot older than what he first thought. The deer hardly has any front teeth which makes it even sweeter taking yet another mature old deer of the Ohio Lease.

Within 12 days Trenton, Jim(Austin’s Dad), an Austin were all able to kill very respectable deer off their lease. All goes to show the hard work an dedication makes it worth it in the end.

Today was another great day in the deer woods. Austin and his dad headed to the woods this morning with high expectations with the cool frosty morning. The trail cameras have been showing a lot of bucks moving in the mornings and early afternoons. At 7:21 Austin got a phone call from his dad that he had shot a nice one but wasn’t sure which deer it was. Around 10 they picked up tracking the deer with good blood they figured he was going far sure enough within 100 yards found the deer. Turned out to be the number 1 shooter on the Ohio lease an Jim Smith’s biggest buck to date. Again all the hard work in the off season and countless hours spent scouting an doing homework on these mature bucks paid off. Congratulations on your biggest buck to date Dad way to go!

Well the 2024 deer season has been good to Trenton so far this year. Tagging out in Wisconsin on opening day and now coming back to Ohio and tagging out on this old warrior of a buck. He still has a Wisconsin gun buck tag in his pocket so we’ll see if his good luck rolls into gun season next month.

Trenton drew first blood for the 2024 season on opening day in Wisconsin. After three years of history with this deer and now as a 4.5 year old after passing him several times last year Trenton was able to use his historical data from trail camera pictures and put a plan together to catch this buck coming into his domain outdoors food plot.

Couldn’t be happier for this guy! The work that he puts in during the off season paid off for him finally. Congratulations
