On Tuesday, June 10 and Wednesday, June 11th the Tuskegee Airmen Exihibit, sponsored by the Schoolhouse Museum and in honor of former Tuskegee Airman William R. White of Smithfield, will be located at the Luter Sports Complex.
The fully functional mobile movie theatre features two compelling original short stories that tell the story of the Tuskegee Airmen and women Airforce Service Pilots and the obstacles they overcame to be able to fly and fight for the country during WWII.
This immersive experience is housed in a climate controlled 53' semi-trailer with expandable sides and is equipped with a ramp and hydraulic lift to ensure access for all. It comfortably accommodates 30-40 visitors for each showing. Because of its dynamic 160 degree panoramic screen, the film creates the feeling of being in a cockpit soaring above the clouds.
Admission is free.
While in town, be sure to visit the Schoolhouse Museum, located at 516 Main Street, across from Main Street Baptist Church and the Isle of Wight Museum at 103 Main Street.
