⚡ The 10/10/10 Rule ❤️
As parents, we often feel like we need more time.
More time after work.
More time on weekends.
More time to connect with our kids.
But what if connection wasn't about having more time?
What if it was about being fully present during the moments that matter most?
Recently, I came across the 10/10/10 Rule:
10 minutes after they wake up.
10 minutes when you reunite.
10 minutes before they go to sleep.
Just 30 minutes a day.
Research on child development has shown that transitions are some of the most important moments in a child's day. These are the times when their nervous system is quietly asking:
"Am I safe?"
"Do I matter?"
"Is someone here for me?"
And our presence answers those questions better than any lecture, reward, or consequence ever could.
Here's how to make it real:
1️⃣ Morning: Connection Before Correction
Before reminding them to get dressed, brush their teeth, or hurry up, start with a smile, a hug, or a simple conversation.
The first few minutes set the tone for the entire day.
2️⃣ & 3️⃣Reunion & Bedtime: Fill Their Cup
When they get off the bus, put the phone down and make eye contact.
At bedtime, slow down for a few minutes. Tell a story. Share a laugh. Remind them they're loved.
These small moments become the memories they carry forever.
The truth is, our kids won't remember every practice, homework assignment, or busy week.
But they will remember how we made them feel.
You don't need more hours.
You just need the right 10 minutes.
