And just like that… the 2026 Ken Sagedahl Member/Guest Tournament is in the books!

What a weekend! There were birdies, bogeys, big drives, questionable decisions, a few “that’s definitely a mulligan” moments, and probably a few stories that are best left on the course. 😂

But behind every great tournament is a whole bunch of people who make it happen, and we want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this weekend such a success!

Tournament Committee: Kyle DeLong, Mitch Magnus & Wyatt Carlson

Our Kitchen Crew: Lisa Ackerman, with Saturday help from Dean Ackerman, Jeff & Eunice Boerboom, and Mike & Tammy Ryan. You kept everyone fed and happy — which is no small task during a golf tournament!

Grounds Crew: Scott, Gary, Scooter & Grady. The course looked great all weekend!

A special thank you to Steve Willers for the help on the roughs mower and to Larry, Tony & Jerry for the morning help.

Bar Crew: Chris, Sherry, Cierra & Elyse — thank you for keeping the beverages flowing!

Shots on #4 & #8: Emma, Emily & Melanie — because apparently golf is more fun when there’s a little liquid encouragement involved!

Starter: Larry Plantz — keeping everyone on pace and making sure we didn’t turn 18 holes into an all-day affair!

City of Slayton: Thank you for mowing down the creek edges and allowing us to use the picnic tables.

Tent: Corey Johnson & Heath Landsman — thank you for keeping us covered!

A big thank you to The Grain Exchange for being our Hole Sponsor and to Miller/Sellner — Matt Ackerman for sponsoring the Hole-in-One contests!

# # # 🏆 AND NOW FOR THE HARDWARE…

Overall Champions: Kyle DeLong & Grant Everson
Shortest Drive: Tayler Streff
Closest to the Flag #2: Grant Everson — 35"
Closest to the Line: Justin Keller — apparently the trees were part of the strategy!
Longest Drive: Kate DeLong
Fairway Flag: Mike Sagedahl
Closest to the Pin: Scott Sawatzky — 10'
Longest Putt: Nate Everson — 50'3"
Closest to the Creek: Shane Bachman

After more than a decade of putting on this tournament, one thing has become pretty clear:

Yes, there’s a fair amount of money that changes hands over the weekend. But the real prize is the community of golfers who come together, have a great time, talk a little trash, tell a few stories, and make this tournament so memorable for our members and guests. To everyone who played, volunteered, cooked, poured drinks, mowed grass, sponsored holes, chased golf balls, helped behind the scenes, or did anything else to make the weekend happen — THANK YOU! And if we forgot someone… blame the golf. 😂

That’s a wrap on the 2026 Ken Sagedahl Member/Guest Tournament!

See you all next year!

☀️ Summer is slipping away faster than a golf ball headed straight for the woods! 🌲⛳️

And with just over ONE month until the BEST fall event around, we’re excited to announce that HALF of the team spots are already filled for the 3rd Annual Slayton Fire Department Auxiliary Golf Tournament! 🎉

Whether you’re chasing birdies…or just chasing your ball into the trees 🌲…this tournament is all about having a great time, enjoying a few cold drinks 🍻, laughing with friends, and supporting a great cause.

🏌️‍♂️ Disclaimer: Good golf skills are completely optional. A sense of humor? Highly recommended. 😜

Don’t get left on the waiting list while everyone else is out making questionable golf decisions and unforgettable memories!

⛳ Grab your team before the remaining spots disappear! Check out the comments below for all the details. We can’t wait to see you on the course!
