The concept of inclusive nutrition is so foreign to most women that they cannot even grasp it when we first start working together.
When I tell them, “Focus on protein, fiber, and fat,” they instantly ask, “What about carbs?” because their automatic assumption is that if these are the three things I'm recommending, everything other than these three things must be bad.
When I say, “Nothing is off-limits,” they look at me with a blank stare, so I have to elaborate.
“First of all, fiber comes from carbs,” I tell them. “Veggies, whole grains, and fruit. So, carbs are included. But more importantly, EVERYTHING is included. Just because we’re focusing on including protein, fiber, and fat does not mean that we are excluding everything else.”
My clients arrive so brainwashed by decades of restrictive, fatphobic diet rules that they’re terrified of doing it wrong. They’re terrified of gaining more weight. They’re terrified of their own bodies and what they might be capable of if they release their white-knuckle mentality on food rules.
But here’s the tragedy. Restriction, removal, and avoidance of food is what actually damages their bodies, compromises their brain function, pushes them into survival mode, and leads to:
- Weight gain
- Chronic pain
- Digestive issues
- Hormone imbalances
- Sleep disruptions
- Brain fog
- Sugar addiction
- Emotional overwhelm
So we make food fun again. We invite choice, desire, pleasure, and satisfaction back to the table.
We make a list of their favorite protein, fiber, and fat foods. We make new shopping lists and menu plans that result in them texting me things like, “Wow, I feel so much better,” and “Ok I’m at the grocery store and actually having fun”
They start sleeping better, waking up fewer times throughout the night and falling back asleep more easily.
They get up in the morning feeling energetic and refreshed.
They stop crashing mid-afternoon, no longer desperate for that cookie or vanilla latte.
They have energy for activities and hobbies that they haven’t been able to do in years.
And for the first time in years or even decades, they start to feel good about themselves and their bodies.
If this sounds like what you want for your life, and you’re ready to finally unburden yourself from this needless struggle with food, I’d love to guide you along the path of inclusive nutrition.
I have 2 spots open for new clients, but I’m only available for a few more weeks before I jet off to Spain, so unless you want to keep carrying this burden around with you for another season or another year of your precious life…now’s the time.
Book a free consult with me to tell me about your challenges with food and see if I can help.
