The Skowhegan Stump Jumpers are aware of the post circulating about our Trail Master, Chris, and our club President, Joanna.
We want to address this once, directly and respectfully.
We are not hiding from Chris’s past. His history is a matter of public record. More than 25 years ago, Chris made a serious mistake, faced the legal consequences, served his sentence, and has continued to live with the consequences and requirements associated with his past.
What we will not accept is the suggestion that his past, by itself, means that the children and families who participate in or are around our club are somehow unsafe.
The Skowhegan Stump Jumpers take the safety of our members, families, children, landowners, and community seriously. We take our responsibilities as a club seriously.
Chris has served as our Trail Master and has dedicated countless hours to our trails, our landowners, our members, and the ATV community. His work with this club is volunteer work, and he has spent years helping build something positive for our community.
We understand that people may have questions. We are willing to have respectful conversations about legitimate concerns regarding our club and its operation.
What we will not participate in is fearmongering, personal attacks, name-calling, or speculation about someone’s character based solely on their past.
Accountability matters. So does recognizing that people can make serious mistakes, serve their consequences, and spend decades making different choices.
The Skowhegan Stump Jumpers will continue to focus on responsible ATV riding, maintaining our trails, respecting our landowners, and building a positive future for our club and our community.
We ask everyone to please keep discussions about our club respectful and based on facts.
