As our middle school boys prepare to close out their season at AAUs in Orlando, we’re placing some increasingly difficult hurdles in their path during training 🫣. While at first glance it may seem like cruel and unusual punishment, having faster, stronger, and higher volleyball IQ athletes to compete against is HUGELY beneficial for these boys.
For those that will say it’s just plain not fair - yes, that is precisely the point! Drills that are “loaded” on one side or start with a scoring disparity force the challenged side of the court to make adaptations. It hones the skills they’ve already learned while requiring them to read through the net and diversify their tactics. 🧠📈
Major props to our young guns for competing hard, and thank you to our older boys for bringing a big brother mentality into the gym!
