📣 Join us for the Annual Sports & Outdoor Gear Sale and Swap!
The Sitka Recreation Foundation invites the public to the Annual Sports and Outdoor Gear Sale and Swap on Saturday, April 4th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Blatchley Middle School. The event will feature table spaces for those wanting to sell their items, a recreation-themed silent auction, and an Open Gym sponsored by Sitka Tribe of Alaska.
Table spaces are limited and can be reserved for $25 by registering at:

🌲 Proceeds from this event will benefit the Sitka Recreation Foundation, supporting recreation programs and equipment in our community.
Past projects include a 12-passenger van for Parks & Rec, gymnastics air floor, outdoor equipment, and scholarships for youth.

Currently in phase 2 of 4. This phase will involve structural, environmental, geotechnical, and all sorts of big-brain sciencey kind of analyses. But don’t worry! With every hurdle we go over (see what I did there? Track and field pun... Ha!) things will get more exciting! So stick with us!

In collaboration with Sitkans for Community Outdoor Recreation Enhancement (SCORE), the Sitka Recreation Foundation (serving as fiscal agent) is committed to investing in recreation as a means to foster healthy lifestyles and strengthen community ties.

The SCORE team is committed to bringing improved recreation facilities to Sitka in the form of a rubber track, synthetic turf infield (for football, soccer, field events, etc.), and a turf women's softball field.

📈Project Funding Goals:
The SCORE Project has 4-phases of Funding Goals

1️⃣Phase 1:
“Yes” vote on CBS Proposition in October 2025 – COMPLETE
61.8% YES - 38% No

2️⃣Phase 2: (Current Phase)
Two Land Feasibility Studies
Revised Lower Moller Field study

We Are SCORE
Sitkans for Community Outdoor Recreation Enhancement

👉🏻 A group of community members working to improve athletic infrastructure in Sitka. Our mission is to promote health and wellness for all ages by providing durable, usable outdoor recreation facilities. These will serve the Sitka School District, local athletic clubs, City and State agencies, and the wider community.

🧐The SCORE Project

Rubber Track and Turf Field:
🏃🏃‍♀️SCORE is proposing an 8-lane rubber track built in accordance with NFHS engineering and design standards to support community events, provide a nearly all-weather area for walking/jogging/running, and a competitive space for school athletes, AST Academy Cadets and the community at large to train.

⚽️ 🏈 A turf infield in accordance with NFHS standards would support any and all field activities for club sports, family recreation, soccer, football, Middle and High School Track & Field, and community events.

📝 While the final site has not yet been determined, Lower Moller Field and Kimsham Fields are both being considered as options.

Women's Turf Softball Field:
🥎 SCORE is proposing an NFHS/ASA regulation compliant turf women's softball field to be built on the existing field at Lower Kimsham. This would provide the community with a nearly all-weather facility to use for High School and Amateur softball leagues, community events and recreation.
