Happy birthday to the most amazing wife. For my 30th she took me to Cabo San Lucas to go striped marlin fishing. It was an incredible trip and I couldn’t have been happier to celebrate with you. But today we celebrate your 31st trip around the sun and although I can’t compete with a fishing trip to Mexico I can do my best to make you feel loved and special on your birthday. I love you so much Sara thank you for all you do for me and our little family.

It’s been some time since my last post. Hate to say it but for a few months I struggled to find the joy and excitement bass fishing used to give me. I’ve been in a horrible rut weather it was fun fishing or tournament and it weighed heavily on my mindset and why I continue to chase these little green and brown fish. The last tournament we had on the Chesapeake , the place I fish the most often, was horrible. Coming in second to last and I thought that was the nail in the coffin for my bass fishing career. I continued on past that just to finish out the season with my buddy Tyler. I suppose life had different plans for me and reminded me just how fun and exciting competitive fishing is. Tyler and I were able to catch almost 18 pounds on lake hopatcong and finally get the monkey off my back of never sealing the deal on a TBF event. It was a legitimate last cast heroics from Tyler that won us the event by culling our a 2lb smallmouth for a 4 pound largie putting us at 17.9 for the day with 1 minute and 30 seconds left to get back to the check in boat. I didn’t want to type out such a long and complicated post but I guess I wanted to share why I’ve been radio silent for the past year. I was beat down. I thought I lost any talent I had and was tired of eating humble pie over and over again. This event and these fish put me right back to where I needed to be. Thanks to everyone in the Bass federation and the guys for continuing their support of me.

Candlewood with the boys was a success. Went Friday and hit the ground running with smackin a 5.2 on a top water then the A rig was busted out and hammered the smallies. livescope completely changed the way I fish for both species. Probably had 17-18 pounds. Saturday and Sunday were tough but caught a few. Carolina rig rod is unparalleled for chuckin A rigs. Perfect bend and power. The goal was to get Ty his first smallie which was achieved in the last hour on Sunday. had all the keitechs and apparel needed for the trip.

Finally got east to the tuna grounds this year. Ended with 2 long boys and a nice yellowfin. Had one nice yellowfin smash a popper to have him come off 20’ under the boat unfortunately. But it was awesome enough just to see it happen.
