Big Boil recap:
Started boiling at 6am Saturday.
Finished boiling at 6am Sunday.
Total of 145 gallons of sap boiled
Ended up tossing out 30 gallons.
Brought home about 4.5 gallons of condensed sap to finish.
Total outcome should be around 3.5 gallons of pure golden deliciousness.

Busy tiring weekend. 10" of fresh snow made collecting a bit different. Needed to drive the 4-wheeler while wearing snowshoes, new meaning to “side saddle”.
Boiled for 17 hours and brought home about 3 gallons of concentrated sap. I’ll finish on the stove where I can control the temperature. I am hoping for a bit 2 gallons of pure maple syrup.

Collected 32 gallons today. Still lots of snow in the woods. 4 bags were overflowing with sap. I guess that’s what happens when I can only empty every 3 days.
Syren requested eggs, bacon and toast for breakfast. It really hit the spot.
I am not sure if I can make it up this week, I have meetings with DHS Wednesday which is my normal collection day. Next collection day will need to wait until Saturday.
