🎬 New Documentary WrestleHer Premieres September 10

The continued growth of girls and women's wrestling is one of the most exciting stories in our sport, and a new documentary series takes viewers inside that growth.

Set in Ohio, WrestleHer follows the rise of women's wrestling and features Olympic gold medalist Helen Maroulis, Olympic champion Kurt Angle, Olympic silver medalist Clarissa Chun, Sally Roberts, Tela O'Donnell Bacher and Vanessa Oswalt.

The documentary premieres September 10 on the Allez! Sports YouTube channel, with the full series continuing on Documentary+.

Girls wrestling is still growing in numbers!!!

In terms of high school sports participation per capita, Iowa remains No. 1 in the nation.

Sioux City East Wrestling is excited to announce that 2015 Iowa State Champion Mitch Otto will be joining our coaching staff as an assistant coach for the upcoming season, pending board approval.

Mitch was the most recent wrestler to bring home an individual state championship for East, winning the 2015 Class 3A 182-pound title.

More importantly, Mitch understands what it takes to succeed in this program. He knows the work, discipline, and commitment required to compete at a high level, and now he’ll have the opportunity to pass that experience on to the next generation of East wrestlers.

Having a former Black Raider and state champion back in the room is a major addition to our program as we continue building toward where we want East Wrestling to be.

I am honored to officially announce that I will be serving as the Head Boys Wrestling Coach at East High School.

After spending last season as an assistant, I am grateful for the opportunity to continue working with these athletes and help lead the program forward.

My goal is to build a program centered on strong fundamentals, sound technique, smart wrestling, discipline, and consistent improvement. More importantly, I want our program to help develop successful young men who understand accountability, hard work, leadership, and what it means to represent East the right way.

There is a lot of work ahead, but I am excited about the future of East High Boys Wrestling and look forward to working with our wrestlers, families, alumni, and community.
