The 2025 MITEFEST committee introduced MVP awards to our tournament in a truly special way encouraging coaches to recognize standout players from the **OPPOSING teams** throughout the tournament highlighted by the following qualities. This means every MVP is honored not just by their own team, but by the coaches they competed against… making this recognition even more meaningful! 💪🔥
Sportsmanship – Shows respect to teammates, opponents, referees, and coaches.
Skill & Performance –strong skating, passing, shooting, and hockey IQ.
Respect for the Game – Understands that hockey is about skill and teamwork, not just physicality.
Defensive Responsibility – Plays both ends of the ice, not just focusing on scoring.
Discipline & Respect – Plays hard but fair, avoiding reckless or dangerous play even if ”penalties” are not called at this level.
Coachability – appears to listen to instructions, accepts feedback, and strives to improve.
Team Player – Prioritizes team success over personal success.
Encourages Others – Lifts up teammates and keeps morale high.
Lead by Example – Sets the standard with their attitude and effort.
Self-Control – Competes with intensity but doesn’t engage in rough or unsportsmanlike behavior.
If you see a player walking around with an MVP medal, be sure to give them a big congratulations! 🥇👏
It’s an incredible achievement to be recognized by coaches from every team they faced and something they should be very proud of!
