If you’ve ever wondered why we don’t have an operating concession at the complex, here it is.
To our friends who just couldn’t help themselves, we see you.
The first time you stopped by you were probably sadly underwhelmed when you finally cut that dead bolt out only to find you got into a bathroom. We even gave you the benefit of the doubt assuming maybe you had to go reeeeallll bad.
But it’s not a surprise that you wanted to return and take a look behind door number two and three to see what they had to offer. We’re assuming you got spooked or you may have forgot that spare battery on the saw you were using to cut our locks.
We’re impressed with your tenacity and motivation to make a third visit, and this time it looks to have been a success or so you thought……
We’re thankful we didn’t have much to take there, and apparently the perps weren’t super impressed with our selection of little league equipment and old appliances. But what you did achieve was vandalizing and destroying not one but 3 doors and a concession window to our building. You quite literally took money out of the pockets of all the families who support our league so we can provide a safe and fun place for children of all ages. We will have to use league funds to fix this damage and find away to keep you out.
Last year we spent almost $10,000 redoing the outside of that building with a plan to redo the inside and reopen concessions at this location.
The building doesn’t look like much to those who pass by or even plan to break in. But for our program, it was a building with a future. One we’ve questioned and hesitated on resurrecting, for THIS. EXACT. REASON.
But this is not going to be the last time we have a situation like this, and sadly it’s happening more often to our friends in other leagues as well.
If you’re a neighbor to facilities across all the leagues we ask that you stay vigilant. If you see something, say something.
While we’re so thankful for our local Silvis Police Department they can’t be at all of our locations 24/7.
If you’re the one who caused this damage and you happen to read this…. We hope you stub your toe.
