A parent recently told me she didn’t want her kids lifting weights because she was worried it would stunt their growth.

I understand why parents worry about that.

But properly coached strength training does not stunt growth.

The problem is not kids learning how to squat, hinge, land, jump, sprint, push, pull, brace, and control their body.

The problem is bad coaching, poor technique, too much load too soon, and no supervision.

For young athletes, the goal is not max weight.

The goal is movement quality, coordination, confidence, joint control, and preparing their bodies for the demands of sport.

Kids are already sprinting, jumping, cutting, landing, falling, and competing.

Strength training helps prepare them to handle those forces better.

Done right, strength training builds better movers, not broken kids.

Parents, if your athlete plays sports, they need to learn how to move well before they chase performance.

PARENT VIEWING UPDATE 🚨🚨🚨

Nomad families, we are extremely thankful for the growth we are seeing inside the facility. With that growth, we are getting much busier during class times and need to make sure we have enough space for our athletes to train safely and for our gym members to work out.

Starting now, we are asking that parents remain in their vehicles during their athlete’s training session.

We will still have a parent viewing opportunity every Wednesday, where parents are welcome to come inside and watch the first 30 minutes of class.

Also, if you would like to become a gym member and get a workout in while your athlete trains, we offer 24/7 gym access for $50/month.

Thank you for understanding and helping us continue to create the best training environment possible for our athletes.

Fast feet don’t automatically create speed.

Some athletes already have explosiveness, but the next step is learning how to use that power to cover more ground when they sprint.

That was the focus of this session.

We’re training:

Force production
Single-leg strength
Hip drive
Ground contact quality
Power transfer

The goal isn’t just to look explosive in the gym.

The goal is to create more force into the ground, project the body forward better, and turn that explosiveness into speed that actually carries over to sport.

Every movement has a purpose.

They need the strength to hold position, the power to accelerate, the stability to change direction, and the control to stay athletic under pressure.

Parents, please read if your child trains in our Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3 classes.

We have had several full classes lately, which is a great problem to have, but we need every athlete officially signed up through Upper Hand before attending.

This helps us keep class sizes organized, plan coaching stations correctly, and make sure every athlete gets the attention they need.

Starting now, please make sure your child is registered for their class before they show up.

To reserve your spot:

1. Log in to your Upper Hand account
2. Go to your child’s profile
3. Click View All under the Credits section
4. Select the correct class
5. Click Reserve
6. Choose the session your child will attend
7. Click Book

If your child is not registered, we cannot guarantee that they will have a spot in class.

Our goal is to keep the training environment organized, safe, and high quality for every athlete.

If you have any issues signing up, send us a message and we will help you get it taken care of.

Tier 1: Beginner athletes learning body control, coordination, speed mechanics, and athletic foundations
Tier 2: Athletes ready for structured speed, agility, strength, and power development

Two college football players. One summer mission.
