KSBO Newsletter for September 2026. WELCOME to the 53rd Season of the KSBO!!
The 53rd Season of KSBO is Proudly brought to you by our Season Title Sponsors Lakeside Industries and 900 Global® as the Official Bowling Ball Sponsor of KSBO. For Lakeside Industries, this is their 9th year as our Title Sponsor. We want to thank Brett McGuire, Lakeside Industries – Olympic Peninsula Regional Manager for his steadfast support of our organization throughout the years. It is the 5th year we have teamed up with 900 Global as KSBO’s “Official Bowling Ball Sponsor” and the 9th year with 900 Global parent Company, Storm Products Inc. We are honored to be affiliated with these two outstanding businesses.
Before we kicked off our first tournament of the year, we took the time to introduce the KSBO Board of Directors for the 53rd Season: Bill Bachteler, Milt Meeds, Nicole Smith, Ryan Jamrog, Tom Jamrog, Jessica Helmonds, Cody Moen, Skilur Lammi, Alex Cady, Kamalu Lyons, Cameron Kerlee. RESULTS OF THE 53rd SEASON KSBO OPEN HELD AT ALL STAR LANES & CASINO.
Now for the tournament.
The first tournament of the 53rd season was our annual KSBO Open held on September 19th, 2026, at All Star Lanes & Casino. Being the KSBO Open, any bowler with a current USBC membership was eligible to bowl the event.
The sponsor of the tournament for BOTH divisions was COLDWELL BANKER-BAIN/JEFF HELMONDS. This is the 12th time Jeff and Coldwell Banker have sponsored a KSBO Tournament. We thank him for his continued support of KSBO.
We had a decent turnout for the first tournament of the new season on a beautiful Washington Fall Day with 28 bowlers in the Under Division and 24 bowlers in the Open Division lacing their shoes to compete on the 2026 USBC Open Championships (Team) Oil Pattern.
After 5 games of qualifying in the Under Division, Mark Franklin was the leader. He shot games of 213, 232, 161, 138, and 221 for a 965 qualifying score placing him 15 pins over second place. With 28 bowlers in the Under Division, we cut to the top 10 for the Semifinals. Low to make the cut and cash was 854.
After 3 games of Match Play semifinals, Hannah Sutton was the new leader. She shot games of 184, 193, and 202 for a 579 winning all three matchplay matches for an additional 90 bonus pins. This added to her qualifying score of 960 gave her a total pin fall of 1629. Behind her were Mark Franklin – 1569(30), Bill Bachteler – 1525(60), Steve Soto – 1468(30), Bud Clark – 1445(60), our sole Junior of the tournament – Malakai Bachteler – 1437(60), Kayla Thomas – 1402(60), Jessica Helmonds – 1388(30), Frank Carpenter – 1375(30), and Robert Ellis – 1282(0) with the top 5 bowlers advancing to the TV Matchplay finals.
In the first match of the TV Matchplay Finals, Steve Soto defeated Bud Clark 156-144. In the second match, Steve defeated Bill Bachteler 168-149. In the third match, Steve’s luck ran out as Mark Franklin got some timely carry to defeat Steve 189-169 to advance to the Championship Match against tournament leader, Hannah Sutton. In the Championship Match, Hannah and Mark went back-and-forth most of the match, but Hannah got just enough to hold him off defeating Mark 188-170 to claim the 2026 KSBO 53rd Season KSBO Open Under Division Championship Title. This is Hannah’s 3rd KSBO Under Division Title. Congratulations Hannah, well done.
After 5 games of qualifying in the Open Division, Dean Richards was the leader. He shot games of 207, 213, 168, 221, and 257 for a 1066 qualifying score. With 24 bowlers in the Open Division, we cut to the top 8 for the Semifinals. Low to make the cut and cash was 943.
After 3 games of matchplay semifinals, we had a new leader in Casey Jamrog. He came from the 8th position to take the lead with games of 253, 197, and 204 for 654, winning all three of his matchplay matches for an additional 90 bonus pins. This added to his qualifying score of 943 gave him a total pin fall of 1687. Behind him were Dean Richards – 1629(0), AJ Brockett – 1621(60), Tom Jamrog – 1608(90), Ryan Jamrog – 1572(60), Eric Pritchard – 1520(30), Ryan Showalter – 1513(0), and Jacob Miller – 1479(30) with the top 5 advancing to the TV Matchplay Finals.
In the first match of the TV Matchplay Finals, it was a battle of Father-Son as Tom and Ryan Jamrog stepped up to the plate. But in the end, Tom was a little too much as he defeated Ryan 205-156. Tom then proceeded on to defeat AJ Brocket 223-205, and Dean Richards 201-185 for the right to face his other son, Casey Jamrog for the Championship Match. This is a first in KSBO history that a father faced both his sons in the TV finals. How cool is that? In the Championship Match both bowlers looked good….and looked bad as they both had some carry issues. It came down to the 10th frame where Tom was able to hold on with just enough pins to defeat Casey 202-192 to earn his 14th KSBO Open Title (10 singles, 3 quads, and 1 doubles). This places Tom as the #1 Active Title holder in KSBO and places him 7th highest all-time in KSBO behind the GOAT Lonnie Sharkey (113), Steve Force (32), Tim Clemens (19), Mike Hansen (18), Gary Heilman and Mike VanWinkle (17), Henery Dawson and the legendary Gabby Galbraith (15), all of whom, have retired from bowling. Congratulations on a well-deserved win and the status of #1 Active Bowler in KSBO (by Titles).
We would like to thank All Star Lanes and General Manager Sara Hardness for hosting the KSBO and Jeff Helmonds from Coldwell Banker-Bain for sponsoring both the Under AND Open Divisions.
We also want to thank our 53rd season Title sponsors, LAKESIDE INDUSTRIES and 900 GLOBAL, the official bowling Ball Sponsor of KSBO ( - ). Be sure to check out 900 Global’s newest release, Portal. The Portal represents a different approach to a 900 Series ball, created for bowlers looking to see what is possible when a ball can clear the front of the lane and save its energy for what comes next. Its purpose is simple: get through the heads, retain energy, and create a sharp move down lane that gives you another option when you need it. At the heart of Portal is the all-new Conduit AI Core. Its high RG and high differential are designed to help the ball ignore traffic in the heads and maintain its energy for the backend. Paired with the stronger RB 92 Solid cover, the core gets the traction it needs while the cover helps enhance its quick response time. The result is one of the sharpest backend reactions the Global brand has ever seen. Release Date: 10/02/26 and available in you favorite Storm VIP Pro Shop.
Our next tournament is our first trip up north to Port Angeles and Laurel Lanes Bowling Center for the Lakeside Industries Under Division Singles and Longhouse Market & Deli Open Division Singles. FOR THIS TOURNAMENT THERE IS ADDED MONEY FOR BOTH DIVISIONS. AND the 1st bowler out of the money in each division will receive a $100.00 Gift Card good at 7-Cedars Casino courtesy of Laurel Lanes and Seven Cedars Casino. So come on up to Port Angeles and bowl. Registration and pre-pay option is active at our website: ksbo.net.
Entry Forms for the 20th KSBO Quad Swiss will be out soon. You can fill out an entry form, sign up on Facebook, or create an account at our website, register AND pre-pay for the event. If you choose the reserve a spot on Facebook, I will need the names of your bowlers, your team’s name, and your averages based on the KSBO Bylaws. A list of current KSBO average is posted on the KSBO Website. Tournament rules/bylaws are also available. MAX team average is 600 and you can have (1) KSBO non-Eligible bowler on your team.
I am thankful to all of you (Bowlers, Supporters, Bowling Proprietors, and Sponsors) who make KSBO possible!
