START WHERE YOU ARE
Maybe you’ve thought about trying jiu-jitsu, but something has kept you from walking through the door.
You feel too old, too out of shape, too nervous. You’re coming back from an injury. You tried before and quit (we understand why) . Or maybe what you’ve seen of jiu-jitsu makes you wonder if you belong here at all.
We understand more of those things than you might think.
We’ve been new. We’ve been hesitant. We’ve been injured.
We’ve been frustrated. We’ve watched people step away—and welcomed them when they were ready to return.
And yes, sometimes training looks like this. Sitting against the wall. Resting. Watching. Listening. Learning. Resting , again.
You don’t have to prove how tough you are every minute you’re on the mats. Knowing when to rest is part of learning how to train for a long time.
That’s part of why we’re here and why we try to hear the person who walks through our doors.
You don’t need to arrive ready for jiu-jitsu. You just need to arrive.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest - Matthew 11:28
