Ohio Disc Dogs All-Star Invitational Update
Week 2 • 90:/5 June 2026 Season

The 6th Annual Ohio Disc Dogs All-Star Invitational will take place on Friday, July 31 during prime time at the Summit County Fair.

This year’s event will showcase 18 of Northeast Ohio’s top K9 Frisbee Teams, representing Clubs from across the region.

How Teams Qualify
10 Automatic Invitations

The first 10 invitations will be awarded to the highest-ranked Teams from the 90:/5 June Season.

With two weeks now complete, the attached leaderboard shows the current Top 40 of 122 Teams from participating Northeast Ohio Disc Dog Clubs. Medina Club members elected not to participate in the automatic qualification process this season.

Remember, these rankings are only halfway through the season. Three weeks remain, and there is still plenty of time for Teams to move up the standings and earn one of the coveted automatic invitations.

If a qualified Team is unable to attend, please let your Club Captain know, the invitation will roll down to the next highest-ranked Team in the final standings.

8 Captain’s Choice Invitations
An additional eight invitations will be awarded by Club Captains, recognizing outstanding competitors, Club contributors, rising players, and Teams who may not qualify through season rankings alone.

This year’s Captain’s Choice invitations belong to:
• Amanda Base — Akron
• Jeff Wells — Brunswick
• Justin Peto — Burton
• Mike Tankersly — Canton
• Karen Franz — Cleveland
• Corey McCrae — Mahoning Valley
• Lori Karasz — Medina
• Mark Vitullo — Akron

Captains who are unable to attend the All-Star Invitational may transfer their invitation to a co-Captain or any member of their Club. Simply contact Mark with your selection so the invitation can be reassigned.

Good luck to everyone as we head into Week 3. We look forward to celebrating Northeast Ohio’s best teams under the lights at the Summit County Fair on July 31.

Akron Climbs Into Worldwide Top 10 After Strong Week 2 Performance

Akron Moves to 9th Place Worldwide, Holds Lead in Super 8 Division 1

SILVER LAKE, OHIO — The Akron K9 Frisbee Club delivered one of its strongest performances in recent seasons during Week 2 of the 90:/5 Fall 2026 Season, climbing from 12th to 9th place in the Worldwide Canis Magnus Club Rankings among 152 active Clubs across North America and beyond.

Akron accumulated 4,199 Canis Magnus Club Points through two weeks of competition, making the Club one of only nine organizations worldwide currently ranked inside the coveted Top 10.

The jump marks Akron’s first appearance in the Worldwide Top 10 in quite some time and reflects the depth and consistency of the Club’s top-performing teams.

Akron Continues to Dominate Super 8 Division 1
While the Worldwide rankings continue to tighten, Akron has established an early advantage in the Super 8 Pennant Challenge.

For the second consecutive week, Akron leads Division 1 with 8,404 Super 8 points, maintaining a comfortable margin over second-place Powhatan, Virginia (7,197 points).

Current Division 1 Standings:
1. Akron, OH — 8,404
2. Powhatan, VA — 7,197
3. Jacksonville, FL — 6,484.5
4. Norton, NB — 6,362
5. Toledo, OH — 6,015

The Super 8 Challenge ranks each Club’s top eight “A” Teams against other Clubs in their Division, rewarding quality and depth rather than overall Club size.

🏆 AKRON FINISHES #2 IN THE INAUGURAL K9 FRISBEE WORLD GAMES! 🏆

When the dust settled on the first-ever season of the K9 Frisbee World Games, the Akron K9 Frisbee Club finished as the #2 Club in the world out of 18 participating Clubs.

Akron’s final standings:

🥈 #2 Overall World Games Club
🥈 #2 Speed Retrieve Club
🥈 #2 Precision Distance Club
6️⃣ #6 Disc Dog Dash Club

The Club earned an impressive 19,268.69 World Games Club Points, trailing only the powerhouse Anthem, Arizona Club and finishing ahead of strong competitors from Tacoma, Thornton, Bainbridge, Cleveland, Fremont Dog Lodge, and the rest of the inaugural field.

The strength of Akron’s performance came from depth throughout the roster, with eight different Teams earning Super 8 Club Points and helping carry the Club to a runner-up finish.

Leading the way was:

🔥 Jennifer Earles & Lucy
• #4 Team in the World
• Akron’s #1 Team
• #4 Overall Champion

Jennifer and Lucy narrowly missed the inaugural World Games podium and established themselves as one of the top all-around Teams in the sport.

Other Akron standouts included:

⭐ Jeff Schmitt & Astrid
• #17 Team in the World
• Akron #2

⭐ Mike Furcolo & Lucy
• #18 Team in the World
• Akron #3

⭐ Brian Baldwin & Brodie
• #19 Team in the World
• Akron #4

⭐ Mark Vitullo & Vinny
• #20 Team in the World
• Akron #5

Together, Akron placed five Teams among the Top 20 Teams in the world and six Teams among the Top 30.

The Club’s Super 8 contributors were:

🏅 Jennifer Earles & Lucy
🏅 Jeff Schmitt & Astrid
🏅 Mike Furcolo & Lucy
🏅 Brian Baldwin & Brodie
🏅 Mark Vitullo & Vinny
🏅 Amanda Base & Nebula
🏅 Brad Kurtz & Cooper
🏅 Carolyn Calvert & Sampson

The inaugural World Games also highlighted the versatility of Akron competitors. Club members competed successfully in Air and Roller divisions, with Border Collies, Labradors, Belgian Malinois, English Shepherds, mixed breeds, Dutch Shepherds, and Aussie-Doodles all contributing to the Club’s success.

The most impressive statistic may be this:

Of the 53 Teams worldwide that completed all three World Games events and qualified for the Overall Championship, Akron placed FIVE Teams in the Top 20 and SIX Teams in the Top 30.

Not bad for the inaugural season.

Congratulations to everyone who helped make history and represented Ohio Disc Dogs and the Akron Club in the first-ever K9 Frisbee World Games.

The June World Games season is already underway.

Let’s see if Akron can climb one spot higher.

🏆 JEN & LUCY PUNCH THEIR TICKET TO CHATTANOOGA! 🏆

The final Spring 2026 K9 Frisbee Worldwide League scores have been recalculated to correct a few reporting errors and include several late-submitted scores.

While Akron slipped 16 places in the final week to finish a respectable 39th out of 153 Clubs worldwide in the Canis Magnus Club Rankings, the big story belongs to Jennifer Earles & Lucy.

By holding onto 3rd place all season in the Skyhoundz Division Series, Akron earned Jen & Lucy a Qualifying Invitation (Q) to the Skyhoundz World Championship in Chattanooga, Tennessee this September! 🚂

Lucy led all Akron teams this season, finishing among the Top 40 Teams out of 2,915 Teams worldwide and ranking an impressive 28th among all Expert Division Teams.

Not far behind, Carolyn & Max earned Club Vice-Champion honors and also cracked the Worldwide Top 40 in their division, finishing 31st in the Masters Division.

Kelly & Newt rounded out Akron’s Top 3 and finished as the Club’s highest-ranked Handler Division Team.
