Soccer Pickup game - Saturday 20th June 2026 at 10 AM on Signal Mountain
Hey Folks,
Last week was HOT and HUMID. We had around 25 players braving the heat. It was great when a cloud or breeze came over, but there were not many. We took an extra water break, a bit like the World Cup, LOL. Elibern was back, with a spectator cheering him on. Ritchie was also back from Cleveland, but beaten in distance by Forrest who was back from Virginia. Ben, whom we have not seen in forever, played and had his family group of children running around. It was great to see them all again. Ryan brought his daughter Addy, as Malaki did bringing his dad Jeff, and Mike played again too. Thanks to all who came out and played.

Locally the Nightfall concert series continues on Fridays, and Riverfront Nights continue on Saturday. I finally made it last Saturday and saw an Elton John cover band. They were great.. Lots of free local entertainment.
World Cup 2026 Update - Well the games are in full swing now. Some interesting results. Spain just drew 0.0 with Cabo Verde which was a shocker. The dark horse for me is Japan who look amazing and their great goalkeeper Suzuki. The USA had a great 4.1 win. Scotland beat Haiti too, their first time at the WC in 28 years. There have been quite a few tied games, with higher ranked teams being held to a draw by much lower teams, like the Spain game. However, Haaland, Mbappe and Messi yesterday put all their first 3 games out of reach, and records are being broken by the soccer Gods. All the teams I have picked so far are winning. But it won't get so predictable once we get to the knockout round of 32, and especially the round of 16. Who is your team, and where are you watching? Go Team USA.

Soccer Pickup game - Saturday 13th June 2026 at 10 AM on Signal Mountain
Hey Folks,
Last week was amazing. The numbers started slowly, probably because I was a little earlier than recently, but we ended up with large group of 30 players out. We again had great weather and a fun game. Dudley and I rode our bikes to the field. A couple of youth teams were out practicing. Dennis was back for his annual visit, and even scored the Golden Goal. It was great to see him. Jason was also back from a long break, but left early. Ben again had Eli with him, and John had Ellis and Landon. Storm was back with his son Landon, Matt had Will, and the other John had his son Luke too. Lots of dads and sons, heading towards Father Day in 2 weeks. Yaro and Anya were back, and it was great to see Shea back after a few weeks. New player Wiley joined us and a big welcome to him. Thanks to all who came out and played.

World Cup 2026 Update - The Spanish National Men's team are in town and practicing at Baylor. It was a huge warm welcome shown downtown, and at the viewing of their practice last Saturday for those lucky enough to have won tickets to go. It was covered by all the news stations, and is a big deal for Chattanooga and Baylor to have the World's No. 2 ranked team stay and practice here.
The actual games are starting on this Thursday June 11th at 3PM. The USA first game is on the Friday 12th at 9PM vs Paraguay. I plan to attend a watch party after Nightfall that evening, but not sure where yet, maybe with the CFC crowd at the White Duck Taco joint. Enjoy wherever you watch. Go Team USA.

Soccer Pickup game - Saturday 6th June 2026 at 10 AM on Signal Mountain
Hey Folks,
Well the sun has finally come out and the rain has stopped. We had 24 players join us last week and we dodged the rain. The field was damp but playable, and the weather was warm and humid, and luckily we had a breeze and some clouds during the game. Dads Ben had Eli and Billy had Aiden with them. Boy I miss having my kids play with me. Thomas was back, and all 3 Johns played. Eli and Chris were back, hopefully for the summer. Ryan had a spectator cheering him on. And Charmin and Sheldon were back too. Thanks to all who came out and played.

World Cup 2026 Update - The games are only 1 week away, with the first 2 games on Thursday June 11th at 3PM. The USA first game is on Friday 12th at 9PM vs Paraguay. I plan to attend a watch party after Nightfall that evening, but not sure where yet....stay tuned. There are friendlies as warm-ups going on now. The USA plays Germany on Saturday 6th at 2.30 PM and England play New Zealand at 4PM on the same day. England plays again on Wednesday 10th vs Costa Rica also at 4 PM. I know Andy and I will be watching that one. Enjoy.

Soccer Pickup game - Sunday 31st May 2026 at 10.30 AM on Signal Mountain
Hey Folks,
What a difference a week makes. With all this rain I am thinking about building an Ark. It has been rain and storms everyday since last week, and it does not look like stopping for the upcoming week either. We have gone from severe drought to flash flood warnings. The Police even closed both the 'W' road and main highway up the Mountain last Sunday, due to torrential rain across the road.
However, we got very lucky for our game last Saturday. I normally gauge the state of the fields by my yard. Well after all the rain on Friday it did not look bad. So I decided to drive to the fields at 7.30 in the morning and check them out. It rained for about 10 minutes while I was there, but the fields were quite good. Just a couple of wet areas. So I went home and checked the radar to see what was coming, and lo-behold there was a big gap of rain, and so we played in dry weather with only damp fields, and even the sun came out by the end of our game. We had a few over 20 players join us, and a good time for all. Clay was back from Chicago for his first game in a long time. Thomas played again and will be a regular now I hope. Dan brought new player Scott with him, so a big welcome. And Andy scored his first hat-trick with us of 3 goals. Way to go buddy. Thanks to all who came out and played.

Locally the Nightfall concert series continues on Fridays, although for the 2nd week running they are moving the venue to the Indoor Market because of the rain forecast. And Riverfront Nights continue on Saturday despite the rain. Lots of free local entertainment. Take an umbrella, or flippers and snorkel, LOL.
World Cup 2026 Update- The games are only 2 weeks away, with the first 2 games on Thursday June 11th. The USA first game is on Friday 12th at 9PM vs Paraguay. The team has just been announced as has the England team. A few surprises on both. Excitement continues to build.

Soccer Pickup game - Saturday 23rd May 2026 at 9.30 AM on Signal Mountain

The weather has changed and it is feeling like summer already. Last Sunday morning was hot and humid. Despite the heat, we had another fun game last week, with over 25 players coming out. All three Johns were back, as was Anya and Yarrow, and Hirsh and Hanes. Charmin and Sheldon played also, as did Billy and son Aidan and Daniel and his son. Thanks to all who came out and played.

In the Premier League, Arsenal have won the title, after Manchester City had a draw against Bournemouth. Plenty of soccer to watch this weekend, the last games in the Premier League until it restarts in September, after the World Cup. Enjoy.
Locally, the free downtown entertainment Nightfall concert series continues this week at Miller Plaza, and I rode my motorcycle there last week, and was one of many bikes. It was great weather and quite busy. Also Riverfront Nights starts this Saturday down at Ross's Landing. Lots of free local entertainment.

Soccer Pickup game - Sunday 17th May 2026 at 10 AM on Signal Mountain
Hey Folks,
Well another great game last weekend with 20 players coming out. Although it was early on Saturday the weather was great, ideal for soccer. Neither too warm nor too cool, just perfect. Thomas was back from Knoxville and looks like he is staying this time and can play more regularly (yipee!). Jeff and son Malaki played together. Malaki said the HS has won district and now are heading to the regional finals, and so good luck to him and the team. David and Dudley played and Dudley rode his bike to the fields. Billy had his son Aiden with him. Patrick and Josh were back after breaks, as was Sean. I met Tim's mum Clair, and she said she might come and play with us instead of just watching, and that would be great. And Brian was back for his second visit with hopefully many more. Thanks to all who came out and played.

Soccer Pickup game - Saturday 9th May 2026 at 9.30 AM on Signal Mountain
Hey Folks,
Last week we had an unusual start to the morning with a late frost. Following that shocker, now being in the month of May, we had another good turnout with around 28 players and great weather. Matt had Will with him. Sheldon was back, as was Ben and son, Owen this time. Robin joined us after a long break of over 6 months. Al joined us from Ooltewah again, as did Danny and Gladys. Mike and Frank were back and a new player Brian, so a big welcome to him. Thanks to all who came out and played.

In the Premier League, Manchester City and Arsenal are still fighting for the top spot. Arsenal just Won through to the Finals of the European Championship League Cup for their first time. The play-off games begin this weekend, for The Championship and 1st Division, to see who will be the 3rd place team to be promoted. I am rooting for Southampton and Stevenage. Plenty of other soccer to watch this weekend. Enjoy.

Soccer Pickup game - Sunday 3rd May 2026 at 10.30 AM on Signal Mountain
Hey Folks,
We had great weather and dry fields on Sunday, despite the rain on the Saturday. We need the rain badly, and this week we should see plenty, and my garden and flowers will be thankful. And so last week was ideal for the 22 odd players that came out, and we ended up playing longer than usual. Josh and son John were back, as was Ben and son Eli. Ritchie and Danny were back, as was Ryan. Thomas played too, and Frank was back after a very long break. Thanks to all that played and helped move and reset goals.
This week we will plan to play again on Sunday at 10.30 AM. Please be prompt. Bring plenty of water. Amazingly it may be rather cool to start, after a cold front has moved in. Soccer Pickup game - Sunday 26th April 2026 at 10.30 AM on Signal Mountain
Hey Folks,
It's hard to believe that this is already the last weekend in April. Spring has finally sprung. My flowers are in bloom and the weeds growing fast. Birds are nesting and I have seen deer several times crossing in my back yard. Rain thankfully appears to be in the near future, as we are very dry and I want to avoid the extra cost and time of watering my garden. And it certainly needs a good soaking, preferably overnight and not during our games.
Last Saturday we had just over 20 out, with great weather and another fun-filled game. We started small sided once more, but moved to a bigger field with large goals after awhile. Eric and Hanes rode their bikes. Mike was back after a long break. Ben was back also, until he had to leave and go back to work the night shift (bless him). Thanks to all who played, and helped put the goals back afterwards.

In the Premier League, Manchester City beat Arsenal (top) 2.1 last week, and so they are 3 points apart. Manchester City has a game in hand, so it could all come down to that extra game and even goal difference. Wolves have been relegated and with 5 games to go we will see who joins them. Coventry have been promoted back to the Premier League after a 26 year absence. Leicester look likely to go down from the Championship League into the lower 1st Division. Plenty of other soccer to watch this weekend. Enjoy.

Soccer Pickup game - Saturday 18th April 2026 at 3 PM on Signal Mountain
Hey Folks,
Last Sunday was warm and we had a few less with around 20 out. We started small sided, but moved to a bigger field with normal goals after 30 minutes play. Hanes, Eric and Dudley all rode their bikes. Doug was back, as was David and Will, and Al. Jeff and son Malaki played, and Nick too, until he had to leave and go coach his Storm Youth Team. Thanks to all who played. We are missing Sarah and hope she comes back soon, and the other ladies too.
