2004 or 2005 - Atienza Kali seminar at Integrated Martial Arts in Signal Hill, CA.

I was in the 7th grade, maybe 11-12 years old (pictured far right). As I was growing up, we hosted several Sayoc/Atienza Tuhons and instructors in our house when seminars were in town. What stuck with me most wasn’t just the training—it was sitting quietly and listening to the real-life experiences shared by the Atienza Brothers, Tuhon Carl, Tuhon B**g, and Tuhon Darryl at whichever restaurant we were eating afterwards.

Middle school was a rough time, marked by bullying and feeling out of place, but being in the presence of these remarkable men captured in these photos reminded me to stay sharp, stand my ground and not be afraid to fight, even with the small amount of training I had back then.

June 2014 – Sayoc Sama Sama in Los Angeles

In this photo, Pamana Tuhon Chris Sayoc is introducing me to the Sak-Sak drill at my first Sama Sama. This was the first time meeting Pamana Tuhon Chris Sayoc — the man whose teachings had shaped my life long before we shook hands. One conversation. A lifetime of impact. Our conversation that weekend still echoes in my mind, a reminder to have good character, ask the right questions, stay focused and aligned with my path.

A low viz NODs setup that fits in pockets. The Crye nightcap and a 14 is the only option for true LV work. Combined with a laser and quality illuminator there is little performance lost out to 50 yds in complete darkness. I added my own bungee and a Streamlight that covers all illumination bases.
