Most people think they’re doing clam shells on the reformer… but what’s actually happening is the movement gets lost in the hips.
In the first clip, the pelvis rolls back and the spine collapses into the shape..so the work never really lands where it’s supposed to.
In the second clip, everything changes: the spine stays long, hips stay stacked, and the bottom oblique gently lifts away from the carriage to support the movement. That’s where you actually start to feel it — deep in the side body, controlled, intentional, connected.
This is the difference between moving through an exercise and training it.
At Siesta Key Pilates, we keep it simple on purpose — just 6 reformers, small classes, and a strong focus on precise form. Because when the setup is right, the work changes everything.
