Hey everyone, it’s Cameron! Tawawa Park Disc Golf Course is coming along well and I wanted to share some updates on the progress of the course.
Firstly, if you don’t already know, the course is now on UDisc! Download the app if you don’t already have it. It displays a GPS map of the course and allows you to track your rounds and stats.
We will have the rest of the tee pads poured soon! Weather is our enemy right now but as soon as things clear up for long enough, that will be the next thing on the list.
Course signage is in the works. Hopefully that won’t be too much longer. We will also be putting benches at several of the tee pads in addition to some other amenities.
The basket of hole 20 still needs to be moved to its new location. We will update everyone when that happens. The new location will be on the same side of the driveway as the teepad, tucked into the trees. Udisc has this as the current pin location but the basket hasn’t physically been moved yet.
While the course is very much playable, there is still a decent amount of limb and brush work that needs done:
Hole 10 will get some brush cleanup on the 2 corners as well as limb work on the last big tree guarding the entrance to the green.
Hole 11 will get some limb work done to open up the line
Hole 12 will get some limb work done on the evergreen trees to frame up the shot and create more of a direct - albeit difficult - line to the basket.
Hole 13 needs limb work done to open up the lines, and 1 tree on the left side will be removed to open up an alternate line. Also, the honeysuckle and logs around the green will get cleaned up to make entry into the green more possible.
Recently, we took out the three small trees on the hillside blocking the main gap on hole 7. We also took down a few saplings about 50 feet off the tee of hole 15, which create more options on the drive.
LONGER TERM
Looking to the future, we want to continue to improve the course and take advantage of the beautiful park and its features. One of the big things we will be looking to do is add long tee pads on as many of the holes that it is feasible to do so. Also, more pin placements!
I’d love to hear your feedback on the course and any ideas you have, so please feel free to message me. This won’t be a course we just put in the ground and abandon. I’m hoping to see many tournaments played here in the future and I want to elevate the course to a standard befitting of that. We will continue to improve it over the years as we get funding. Thanks to everyone who has gone out and played it already. Can’t wait to see more of you out there!
