COUGARS BRING HOME 2ND PLACE! 💚💛
What a tournament for the Show Low High School Girls' Soccer Team! The Cougars traveled to Rehoboth, New Mexico, to compete in the Maria Hoelscher Memorial Girls Soccer Tournament and battled their way into the Championship Game, finishing the tournament as 2nd Place!
The Cougars faced the 4A Hiroshi Miyamura High School Patriots in the championship match. While the final score was Cougars 2 – Patriots 5, the score doesn't tell the whole story.
After a slow first half, the team came onto the field all-business for the second half. Addison Brumfield scored a beautiful goal from the right side of the pitch, which completely shifted the momentum of the game. Every player on the field refused to let a ball go by unchallenged. Later in the game, the team was awarded a penalty kick; Taylynn Butler's kick floated the ball over the defenders' heads and into the back of the net. The girls played as a TEAM—communicating, encouraging, covering for one another, and refusing to give up. The determination, heart, and togetherness they showed throughout the tournament are something to be proud of! 💚⚽💛
Congratulations to the entire team! Every player contributed to this tournament run, and the Cougars represented Show Low High School with tremendous effort, sportsmanship, teamwork, and Cougar pride.
