The Lady Cougars faced the NPA Spartans in the play-in game on October 28. The outcome wasn't what we were hoping for, but the girls closed out their 2025 season with some fantastic wins, new skills developed, and lasting memories. Here's to the Show Low Cougars!

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Hailey Webb, #28, defender, forward. Hailey did not "grow up" playing soccer, but rather joined the team as a sophomore. Hailey has earned her place as one of the most integral defensive players on the team through her speed and sheer grit to not let anyone past her. One of Hailey's favorite soccer memories over the last 3 years is going to the state championship game on her birthday. After high school, Hailey wants to serve a mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Hailey feels inspired by the quote, "Yesterday you said 'tomorrow'". Hailey, we're so glad you didn't say "Tomorrow" about joining the soccer team. Good luck in all you do!

Oooooh, it's getting serious over here at the NAU Lumberjack Stadium. It's goose eggs for both teams. This second half will determine who goes home and who moves on to the semi-final game. Show Low's defense is right, but they've got to find a way to move past the Spartan's defense to get some shots on goal. Let's go, Cougars!!

The last game of the regular season was played against the Holbrook Roadrunners on 10/23/25 at home. Tatum Moore saw the back of the net within the first four minutes of the game, followed up with a bullet by Maddie Ellis two minutes later. The Lazenby sisters scored the next 3 goals (Talli x2, Maylee 1), with Tatum squeaking in a goal just under the top bar bringing the score to 6-0 before halftime. The second half saw another goal by Maddi (assisted by Kailyn Scott), Tatum rounding out her hat trick, and a goal for Sofie Ellis. The referees called it at 9-0 (mercy rule). The midfield and defense deserve their own accolades, as the shutout just isn't possible without the whole team working together to move the ball. And deep respect to Holbrook for working hard until the final whistle blew. Heads high all around.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Naomi Tapia, #27, goal keeper, midfielder. Naomi’s favorite soccer memories are all of her sophomore season and getting lost on the hike at this year's Gallup tournament. Naomi's favorite quote is, "Limits are only invented in your mind and can only serve as a self-made cage". And in that spirit, Naomi plans to study at the University of Arizona and spend a year abroad in Spain. Her dream is to become a bestselling author, marry a professional soccer player, and live in Spain. No cages for you, Naomi!

The Show Low Lady Cougars are headed to Flagstaff tomorrow for the state play-in game against Northland Prep. The game will be held at NAU's Lumberjack Stadium at 3:30pm. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or in advance using the QR code below. Parking is limited, so carpool with your favorite Cougars families! LET'S GO!!!!!!!

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Tatum Moore, #7, midfielder, defender. Tatum's favorite memory this season is getting lost hiking in Gallup, where she fell down and took Nelly and Tanner with her along the way. After graduation, Tatum is considering going on a mission for her church, and if she doesn't do that, she plans to play basketball or soccer in college. When she grows up, she would love to be a dental hygienist or a florist. Her most embarrassing moment this season is the number of morning practices she's shown up late to, but says at this point, "It’s less of a bad habit and more of a personality trait". Tatum says if she could achieve anything, it would be figuring out why she cannot wake up to an alarm. Here's to a lifetime of setting Siri to alarm every 5 minutes.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Sofie Ellis, #13, midfield, forward. Sofie's favorite memory of this soccer season was the Gallup tournament, "because the team feels so close and it's so fun". After graduation, she will miss the game of soccer, the team, and the family she has here, especially Coach Ellis, who has pushed her to be her best and been there for her in every big life moment. Sofie will likely attend college in Florida, where she hopes to pursue her business and interior design degrees. While in college, she plans to play club soccer and study abroad for a semester. Eventually, she will own her own design firm and travel the world. Sofie lives her life by the motto: "Live every second like it's your last and have no regrets".
