Good morning out there in golf land! The outdoor season is upon us, and we are finishing up our league play this week at Augusta National, aka Georgia Golf Cub. League players this week, do yourself a favor and enter your names and league settings first, then head to the range at Augusta. You can move around on it, and hit some awesome wedges and other cool practice shots...your welcome. League settings will be 11 on the STIMP, firm greens, breezy wind and yellow tees at 6283. There will also be a net $10 skins, and a $10 net players pool for our last big week of league play.

The league finals and party will be this Friday at 5:30 pm, and if your interested in playing at that time, please let us know, we have the back room reserved for the night. There may even be some Augusta type treats for those brave enough to try a pimento cheese and wonder-bread sandwich, and make sure you bring cash! We will be having some closest to the pin competitions as well, $5.00 for three balls, unlimited entry. Don't be that guy that says "do you take venmo or a card?", you might just catch a putter to the shin.

Happy snow day from snowy SOTA!! We are open, so come on in and sweat to the oldies in our 72 degree bays. I'm sweating worse than a sinner in church right now after about 20 balls, so that is WAY better than shoveling! If you are in our league and haven't played in our skins game this week, get in the shop today and put your $5.00 on the line! TPC Sawgrass never disappoints in real life, or in our beautiful, warm, inviting sims!!

Here are the latest league results with one day left to play Sawgrass. This coming week we will be at the famous Copperhead resort and the "snake pit" in Palm Harbor Florida. A favorite among PGA Tour players, this Larry Packard design is a gem and features many water hazards and tree lined fairways. The settings for this week get harder and will reach it's hardest when we play Augusta for the final week of our league. Copperhead will be FIRM greens, 10 on the STIMP and BREEZY wind conditions. Good luck, we are all counting on you!

Skins as of early Sunday at Sawgrass:
2 Eric Peterson net 3
3 Chris Simenson net 1
6 Nick Holt net 2
12 Mike Broghammer net 2
13 Trent Weber net 1
15 Greg Woodford net 3
18 Jordan Barto net 3

Year long net, MT by a mile!:
1 Marcus Toppen 2159
2 Eric Peterson 1607
3 Chris Simenson 1211
4 Ken Basten 1179
5 Jason Frankman 1006

Hello from Sota Sims, and congratulations to our weekly league winners! Coming in first in the net league at Bay Hill was Marcus Toppen, who set a league record net 61! Someone make sure his tires aren't slashed on the way out of here. Nice playing Marcus. 2nd place with a net 66 is everyone's favorite sand bagger, Curt Swenson. I'm kidding Swens, but we all know the bag is a little heavy! On the Gross side, Luke Sladek fired a 66 (ho-hum) and Ken Basten shot a 69. Luke said "no one is touching that one" this week, and the he was right. Dang, this guy has more ego than Shooter McGavin! Nice round out of both of these fellas on a tough playing golf course. This weeks league winners this week get a free moustache trim at Great Clips next door, ask for the "Sota Special" and hang on to the chair very, very tightly.

We are getting down to the final couple of weeks in league, the courses will get harder, the wind will pick up, and we will be running a net skins game for $5 per player. Please bring cash and drop off and check in before you play to get in the game. This will be an all cash payout available the Monday morning after league play.

This week we play SAWGRASS, a perfectly striped, visual masterpiece from the legendary Pete Dye, with his legendary 17th hole. We are introducing wind into the league settings the last few weeks and this week, and we are starting you off in the CALM setting at Sawgrass. We want a little swirl on 17 to make you guys think a little, just like the pro's. I remember this tournament as an 11 year old kid in 1982, watching Jerry Pate win the players championship. He accomplished that feat with an orange ball, the first ever on tour, and I watched him at the end pull the commissioner Deane Beman, into the lake. That was pretty brazen for golf at the time, and after that watching that orange ball on TV, I was hooked on trying to find as many Orange Wilson Pro Staff's and two color Ping balls as possible. I've was addicted to the game after that, and have been in therapy ever since. Thanks a lot golf! Here are the updated standings for our season long competition:

Season Long Net Standings
1 Marcus Toppen 1815
2 Eric Peterson 1411
3 Chris Simenson 1178
4 Ken Basten 1158
5 Jason Frankman 915

Season Long Gross Standings:
1 Luke Sladek 2935
2 Ken Basten 2408
3 Chad Raymond 1953

Good morning from Sota Sims here in Shorewood! This week for league, we are playing Bay Hill, home of the legendary Mr. Arnold Palmer. I think all of us have some great memories or either meeting him, or watching him play over the years. I know I wanted to have strong arms like him during my high school and college years, so I would squeeze a blue racquetball routinely. I think that's a little TMI, but regardless, "arms like Arnie" was indeed a thing for me. Man, that guy had it all.

Here are the results from last week at Sand Valley. This one was a keeper in our eyes for it's playability and visual design. We had some fine play from both divisions this week, and that's the goal for us here.

Good morning out there in golf land, us at Sota are proud to offer a lesson promotion with Luke Sladek! Luke has been a professional at Lafayette for over ten years, and is now here teaching at Sota! For $180, you get two, hour long sessions with Luke, to help get you ready for spring! Let us know if you would like to book a private lesson with Jack, Mike or Luke. All of our staff professionals can help with group lessons for events and parties (hint, hint), and help make your event extra special. Do it, be that guy or gal that has that at their birthday party or social gathering. Your friends will be jealous they didn't think of it first.

It's about to go down for our leagues. Ken Basten is coming on strong and is my net division pick so far, even though Chris "Big Country" Simenson has a nice lead. I'm not saying that Chris will choke, but he's been seeing a psychologist for those nasty 9 footers! Kenny is hitting in great, and a lot straighter thanks to a fantastic lesson with yours truly (another hint). Marcus Toppen is lurking, not in a creepy way, but more like Fred Couples on the back nine at Augusta, he might catch a break on 12 and win the whole darn thing. This will be a full out donnybrook in the net division, and will be fun to watch!

In the gross division, our boy blue Luke Sladek is in a nice sized lead, and is not looking back anytime soon. He says he's going Tiger 2000, and is willing to bite off arms if anyone disagrees. Will he be consistent to the end without folding like a lawn chair? Time will tell for blue, and we will see. Chad "hands" Raymond however, is the most consistent player we have, so he might have something to say about the victory. Chad recently just signed a contract with Palmolive because his hands are SO soft! Nicely done Chad, please drop off some of your staff shirts to us here at Sota!

In closing, for both leagues, we will be having the finals at Augusta National, with the top six players playing together, with an amen corner wind setting and Sunday pins. All players have until week 11 to qualify for the final round week 12 playoff, with the date and time TBD between the finalists and rules committee. Please remember there are no phones, or running at Augusta National.

For week 10 and 11 we will be having a SKINS game (Optional) at Sawgrass and Copperhead. Cost for each week is $5, pitch your Abe Lincoln to the staff behind the counter and good luck!
