⛳️ Congratulations to Peyton Albers on signing his national letter of intent to play college golf at North Dakota State University. Peyton is a WIAA D1 Individual and Team State Champion and the Bison are getting quite an accomplished player. A two-time captain and 4-year letter winner, Peyton has left a lasting legacy with the Waunakee Boys Golf Team. We are so proud of all of Peyton’s accomplishments and are looking forward to Peyton’s senior season! Let’s Go! Once a Warrior, always a Warrior!

Congratulations to Peyton Albers on winning the Mike Schnarr Boys Invitational at Blackhawk Country Club. This is one of the premier summer events and features some of the best golfers in the state. Peyton shot an even par 72 on Monday, five under par 67 on Tuesday and a four under par 68 on Wednesday. Peyton overcame a five stroke deficit to Milton’s Kade Wieland in the final round to take medalist honors. Pictured with Peyton is former Blackhawk CC Head Pro and tournament host Mike Schnarr, Kade Wieland (2nd place) and Drake Card from Hudson (3rd place). Way to go, Peyton! 🥇

⛳️ Shout out to Cole Van Roo who tied for 30th place (79-77-80) and incoming freshman Noah Harmatys who tied for 19th place (77-74-77).

Congrats Peyton!

Qualifier #6 for The Suter Ward Group at Morgan Stanley Wisconsin State Open came to a close on Friday afternoon at Wausau Country Club.

Twelve more players were able to play their way into the State Open field. 2-under-par 69 led the way, as Taylor Koser, Chase Mclaughlin, Nathan Thomson and Nick Wade set the pace.

The final regular qualifier takes place on Tuesday at Wisconsin Country Club.

Former Waunakee golfer (Class of 2024) and current assistant coach Drew Berres has committed to Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine to play Hockey AND Golf. Drew has always loved to play competitive hockey and golf and it’s a dream come true that he will be able to continue to play both in college. Congrats to Drew on this amazing achievement and we wish you great success in the next chapter of your life at Bowdoin College.

Congrats to former Waunakee golfer KC Nickel (Class of 2024) on his 4th place finish at The Wisconsin State Amateur at The Lido at Sand Valley. With junior-to-be Quinn Stein on the bag, KC shot rounds of 70-70-77-72 for a 289 total, 3 strokes out of 1st place and one over par for the tournament. What a fantastic tournament for KC as the playing conditions were tough with strong winds, high temperatures and humidity and tough pins. Awesome having D1 State Champion Peyton Albers following and supporting KC during the final round. Love how the Warrior golf family are always there for past and present players!

Congrats to Peyton on taking 1st place in the AJGA Players Tour on Tuesday and Wednesday at Lawsonia. Peyton shot rounds of 69-69 and won by 3 strokes finishing six under par for the tournament.

Congrats also go out to former Waunakee Golfer Max Brud (Class of (2022) as he finished in 25th place at The Wisconsin State Amateur shooting 73-74-72-80.

Congratulations to our Division 1 State Golf Champion Peyton Albers as he was named 1st Team All-State by the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin.

Peyton was also named Academic All- State High Honors along with fellow teammates Peter Wangerin, Cole Van Roo and Quinn Stein.

Not only do you all exhibit a great work ethic with your golf game but you also do it in the classroom. What great examples you all are leading our Warrior golf team.

It’s been 56 years but the Waunakee Boys have a second State Champion. In 1969, senior Niles Bakke claimed the D1 Medalist with a score of 146 at Cherokee CC/ Yahara Hills. In 2025, junior Peyton Albers can add his name to the elite list of state champions as he shot a 140 and won a 3-hole playoff at University Ridge. Peyton started Day 2 in second place and moved up the leaderboard with 3 birdies and 15 pars. His putter never let him down as he made so many must-have putts to keep him within reach of the title. A birdie on the 15th hole moved him into 1st and it took a birdie on the 16th hole from Drake Card of Hudson to catch him. Peyton prevailed on the third extra hole of the play-off. It was an unforgettable two days as Peyton played some of his best golf in one of the strongest state tournament fields and the pressure of playing on the biggest stage in high school golf.

Peyton had an army of supporters cheering for him as family, friends, current and former players were at The Ridge to help him make history. Peyton was an integral part of Waunakee winning its first ever state championship as a sophomore in 2024 and now he makes history as a junior by becoming Waunakee’s 2nd individual state champion. It’s a storied history of Waunakee golfers who have done well at state. KC Nickel (2nd place 2024), Dusty Schwab (2nd place 2005 after losing in a playoff), Max Brud and Zach Gaugert (5th place 2021 and 2012), Max Murphy (8th place 2015) and Sean Murphy (12th place 2017). And now, Peyton Albers moves from 10th place in 2024 to State Champion in 2025.

The Badger Conference has fielded some of the best golfers in the state and it was on full display this year at State as Peyton is the State Champion, Kade Wieland of Milton took 3rd place and Lincoln Hottmann of DeForest tied for 5th place. That’s impressive and Badger Conference Strong!

The State Tournament brings out the best in the Warriors as they finished 3rd in the Badger Large in 2024 and won the D1 State Championship and in 2025 Peyton Albers receives 2nd Team All Conference Honors and is your D1 State Champion! We couldn’t be more proud of you, Peyton!

Thanks to University Ridge and Ryan Wieme for hosting the WIAA State Tournament It’s great to be back at this spectacular venue.
