Friends of High Cliff State Park

Friends of High Cliff State Park Sherwood, WI Welcome

Location High Cliff State Park is the only state-owned recreational area on Lake Winnebago, Wisconsin's largest lake.

The park gets its name from the limestone cliff of the Niagara Escarpment, which parallels the eastern shore of Lake Winnebago. This ledge extends northeasterly to the Door County peninsula and on to Niagara Falls, New York. The magnificent 12-foot statue of Winnebago Indian Chief Red Bird, standing high on a huge granite rock, overlooks the lake and is a popular destination in the park.

Please join and learn how you can help us advocate for our natural gems in Wisconsin! At High Cliff, we have depended upon the Knowles-Nelson grants for so many projects...

Wisconsin’s public lands need more than our admiration—they need our voices.

The challenges facing Wisconsin’s state parks, forests, trails, and recreation areas continue to grow. With the expiration of the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program and increasing pressure on our public lands, there has never been a more important time to advocate for the places that define our state.

That’s why we’re inviting you to join us this Wednesday, July 23 at 6:00 p.m. for our Friends Toolkit Webinar.

Whether you’ve never contacted a legislator before or you’re looking to become a stronger advocate, this webinar will provide practical tools to help you make a difference.

We’ll discuss:
🌲 Meeting with your legislators
✍️ Writing effective Letters to the Editor
🗣️ Sharing your personal story to inspire action
🤝 Building relationships with elected officials
📚 Using the Friends Advocacy Toolkit to champion sustainable funding for Wisconsin’s public lands

Every conversation matters. Every letter matters. Every voice matters.

Together, we can help ensure Wisconsin’s parks, trails, forests, and recreation areas remain places of adventure, learning, and inspiration for generations to come.
