Please, read the very important post underneath this one and then I need to add something about the Thursday classes. Specifically the Thursday 6:00pm classes. It has been a common occurrence for the last year or so for people to just come into Thursday class and nobody has booked any classes. You guys just pop in and you are expecting things to roll. Please, please, please, schedule your classes. I can see it coming in the next few weeks as I am working in the afternoon that there will come a day, where you just come in, business as usual, and no one is there, cause there was no other student scheduled and you were the only student coming in. I do not take responsibility for the building being locked and no one being there, if you do not schedule your attendance. This was announced more than once. You guys need to read your messages. Also there was a complaint from a Thursday student asking me when they test for their next stripe. That student is also one of those, who never schedules anything and just comes in. The answer is as long as you don’t schedule classes with me you’ll probably never test for your next stripe as there is no time for you to fit in and I can not teach on the weekends. I don’t want to be rude, but we went over this multiple times. I need you guys to schedule. Let’s make this work for everyone’s sake, so I can plan a class where everything fits in.

To all my martial arts students, please keep in mind that I am now school bus driving in the afternoon and am not allowed to be on my phone. Also due to traffic and me possibly coming late to classes from my school bus job, we now have two instructors… Tia and me. Due to this issue it would be awesome if you could book your classes one day ahead of time. That gives Tia time to plan (who would have thought that she has a schedule, as well? 😉) and she doesn’t need to drive to the martial arts school if no one is scheduled for that day. It also gives me time to prep classes before I get busy doing my bus job. Due to our curriculum cards it’s easy to see what an instructor should teach, however remember that Tia is still in training, so I need to prep classes for her to see what she needs to do. She is doing a fabulous job, but still needs that prep help from time to time.

I leave daily at 1:45pm for my school bus job and go from there straight into martial arts classes. There is no time to prep your material if you send me a text at 3pm and go: “Oh by the way, I’m attending tonight.” By then it’s too late. I will not even get your message, cause I’m driving my bus and my phone is locked away somewhere in a compartment. There’s a good chance that the building is closed if you text me the same day you come in and no one is here, cause no one knew you wanted to attend. Which means you will have to wait until I get back from work and depending on what happened there I might either not be delayed at all or like Tuesday last week I could be delayed the entire hour of class. It’s a gamble really. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Last Tuesday they put a kid falsely on my school bus that was supposed to be on a different bus and I didn’t get off my bus until 5:56pm, cause we were searching for the kids address and I had to manually write down the directions on a piece of paper as I am not allowed to be on my phone, while I’m driving. All the while the poor kid crying in the background and me having to focus on things. We’re not even allowed to have the navigator run alongside. At that point I had to cancel both the Excellent Kids classes, which were supposed to start at 5:30pm and the regular aged classes, which start at 6:00pm, because there was no way I would have made it back in time.

So please, please, please, let’s make this work for everyone. Let’s all work together and book your classes at least one day ahead of time. 🙏🙏🙏

Gilbert’s Martial Arts game night tonight. There’s one missing in the picture. We had a good time. Games played were SkipBo, Uno, and Jenga. Thanks to Tia, Colton, Ashton, Eli, and Kai Kenlee for coming in. Tuesday we’re going to the movies. If you want to join us we’re watching Jurassic Park.

To all my students, there is a supposed ice storm coming over night towards noon. While all school districts have cancelled my school will NOT be closed yet… because the ice might be gone by the afternoon as the temperature is above 32. And that’s when the ice should melt. I am having a trip to town around noon tomorrow. I will let every scheduled student know via text or phone call and also post it on here sometimes between 1-2pm and let you know if we are open or closed.

At this point classes tonight are still ongoing (only self defense for women). I just drove 45 minutes to my job at Roundtop through the mountains and it was doable. I will make another assessment around noon, when the snowstorm ends.

Winter camps are tentatively on the 26th, 27th, and 28th. Times will be announced soon. There will also be more days announced soon. I’m still waiting on my winter schedule from my other job to finalize.

We’re just 2 miles from Carroll Elementary and give classes for little ones 3-6 years old Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at 5:30pm and classes for the older students 7 and up Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at 6:00pm. If you’re interested in classes for you or your child, please pm to set up an appointment.

We are closed on Thursday due to Thanksgiving, but open Wednesday and Friday for regular classes at 5:30pm for 6 and under and 6-7pm for 7 up to adults. I am also throwing out a Saturday morning class at 9am this week due to our Thanksgiving closure. Please, don't forget our awesome Black Friday and Cyber Monday kids camps from 9am to 12pm each for $45 reservation. Includes breakfast, games, belt test prep and lots of fun. Drop ins without reservation are $55 each. 20% family discount applies for more than one class and/or camp and family member this week. Please pm for more info or to sign up.
