Class schedule is normal today (1/29/26). As of last night the parking lot was iced and the streets around weren’t great, but I have not been out yet today and am not sure exactly they look like. I would assume it’s better than yesterday.

Hello everyone. I wanted to provide an update on Nick Underwood who was a great friend to many of you and myself. Nick tested in 2015 for black belt followed by his kids, Quinn Teddlie and Caden Underwood, in 2016. Additionally, his younger son, Linus, got to blue belt and I was even able to con his wife, Jaime, into a few classes. I'm hoping to reach as many of you who knew him as possible. He helped teach classes for several years and was amazing with the kids. On December 17, he passed away. Myself and many of you have lost a truly great friend. My heart hurts for his family as he was that piece that makes something whole. If you knew Nick even for a little bit, you understand what I'm saying.

This Sunday, there is a “get together” at the Trinity Baptist Church’s gym in Sherman at 2:00 p.m. It is not a traditional funeral event. I think the intent is to keep it light, positive, and as happy as possible as that is basically the nature of Nick.

I will be there and wanted to let you know if case you wanted to swing by. Feel free to email me or text/call me at 903.893.0007 if you have questions or need anything.

This. Almost every year. For the last 30 years since the first two (Derek Young & Bryan Parker). These people do not exist on a timeline. They are a part of my life and become friends who are also family. They float through the years always in my heart and mind whether we talk daily, weekly, or every 10 years. It’s like they never leave. A phone call away, a text message away, or a FB message away, but never truly gone except for two who will stay in our hearts and minds until we meet again. The newer ones laugh at me when I say names they never knew and then I realize, they weren’t even born. The older ones are connected to them through a path they paved for those who came next. The new ones become the old and it goes on and on. Bound together by a journey that holds us all into a club that only we know the meaning. We exist together all at once even though we are often divided by space and time. How lucky am I to get this experience! Congratulations to our newest black belts!

Testing for 1st Dan Black are: Gabriel Lloyd, Phoebe Cunliffe, Ian Niles, Marcos Verduguez, Jake Niles, Rosanna Kim, Levi Rodriguez, Ryan West, Vance Guinn, and Daniel Lane. Testing for 2nd Dan Black are: Steven Breidenstein and Mathias Verduguez. Testing for 3rd Dan Black is Hunter King.

Testing will be Sunday, August 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the Whitesboro Neighborhood Facility (400 N Wilson Street).

If you are a lower belt and would like you help out sparring, please do. Sparring won’t start until around 3:30.

Update to classes tonight: I have not had anyone message me to let me know they are coming tonight at the 6:00 time and only one person at the 7:00 time. I will be there at 7:00. If you are coming at 6:00, please let me know asap as I will need to start driving up there soon. Thx!

Hey guys! I will be combining classes today due to the weather and that many people do not want to risk the drive to class in it. If you are a white/gold belt kid, your class will be from 6:00-7:00 p.m. If you are an orange belt or higher level kid OR an adult, your class will be from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

If you can shoot me an email ([email protected]) or text me (903.893.0007) and let me know if you ARE coming so I can plan my class, it would be greatly appreciated.
