A terrific way to balance the support to the lower back. When extending one hip at a time in a bridge pose, I give each side the chance to get stronger on its own. Equanimity in lumbar support is my fancy way of describing this glute work.

I heard those words very recently from a wonderful yoga instructor.
And that got me thinking.

When I teach Pilates or Barre, the breath is integrated to the workouts 100%. I cue it constantly.

So, when exercising:
💃Breathe for what you need:
The oxygenation of the blood and cels - an essential piece.
💃Breathe for what you want:
For focus and energy to move in a strong, smooth flow.

Here are your Three for today!

💃STRETCH: Best thing for the body during a season of hustle & bustle. The “busy” tension contracts & tightens the muscles. Stretching the whole body creates length and space to relax. Any kind that soothes you is a go.

🫖NOURISH WITH TEA: I love drinking teas that are not only delicious to my palate but also nourishing and healing to my body. It is a soothing ritual to me. Two of my favorites these days: the recently discovered red tea in the pic, choc full of berries (thank you, Donna!), and my homemade ginger mint infusion. What’s your favorite???

📚ASK & LEARN: I used to self-doubt myself a lot and not ask. Well, without a question there are no answers, right? And learning is growth! So ask away. The full moon is in Gemini, a sign that invites a curious mind, so let’s ride this wave!

Lateral core work means supporting the spine on both sides.

How do you do it?
💃Lateral flexion for spine pliability through abdominal work
💃Stability and support of the spine through any side planking mode

As the Gemini sign embraces the human body and soul, lateral work encompasses both sides of the spine to minimize any differences for better balance within the torso.

Some simple, sweet ideas for today and the coming weekend🧡🍁🧡

💃ROLL HOLDING HEELS: Continuing the theme of deeper core in honor of the Scorpio season, this is an advanced version of a Pilates classic move. Not for everybody, since it involves deep spine flexion. Engaging abs deeper is key for the balance on sit bones. Try it. Be playful😃

🌱BOK CHOY: This Chinese cabbage is full of fiber, vitamins A & C, minerals. AND as a dark leaf veggie, packed with antioxidants (think cancer prevention). I like to eat it as in the pic, in a ramen noodle soup 🍜 Great way to diversify our diets.

😎CHILL DAY: I caught myself last Saturday scheduling my time off. As when to meditate, have breakfast, walk the dog…had to halt my mind and say NO. Then I was truly able to chill and rest. From all of it! A real rest day is not only a break for the body, but for the mind too!
