Blue River Cross Country Course has become something really special for Shelbyville. Each year, it brings in thousands of athletes and more than 40,000 visitors who support our local businesses and spend time in our community.

In 2024, the USATF Junior Olympic National Championship brought over 10,000 visitors and nearly $2 million in economic impact to our region. Because of how successful that event was, we were once again selected to host in December 2025!

Outside of big events, the course is open to the public for free. It’s a great place to walk, run, and enjoy more than 20 acres of native plants and wildflowers.

The course is run by a volunteer board as a nonprofit, and it relies on community support to keep things going. Donations help cover maintenance, improvements, and upgrades so we can continue to grow and offer a great experience for both locals and visitors.

The annual Tree Trot 5k is this Saturday! Be sure to show up to Blue River Memorial Park to support these motivated high schoolers in their efforts to planting trees throughout BRCC. You even get to go home with a homemade medal and a tree to plant!

Registration begins at 7am this Saturday. See you there!
