EAGLES NEST SPORTS 🦅

The Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles punched their ticket to the District Championship with a gritty 54-48 victory over the Cookeville Cavaliers, improving to 19-11 on the season.

In a true back-and-forth battle filled with momentum swings and five lead changes in the third quarter alone, the Eagles showed toughness, balance, and championship poise when it mattered most.

🔥 DEFENSE SET THE TONE
Shelbyville Central’s defense was elite all night, holding a high-scoring Cookeville squad to under 50 points. The pressure, help-side rotations, and late-game stops proved to be the difference in a playoff atmosphere matchup.

🏀 Balanced Scoring Attack
• Tae’Shawn Shelton – 12 points (4-9 FG, clutch free throws down the stretch)
• Jevon Lee – 11 points (5-9 FG, steady and efficient)
• Malek “Mookie” Johnson – 8 points (huge third-quarter three to tie it 29-29)
• Tommie “Tink” Cannon – 6 points
• Jordan Taylor – 6 points (go-ahead bucket to take the 45-44 lead)

After trailing early and going into halftime down 25-22, the Eagles responded with a dominant fourth quarter, outscoring Cookeville 19-11 to close it out. Clutch free throws by Jack Conditt and several others with key defensive stops sealed the win.

The Shelbyville Central boys will now face the Lincoln County Falcons in the District Championship Game
