The Community Viqueens are bringing home a state championship trophy after a dominant 10-1 victory over Marion County in the 2026 TSSAA Class 2A Girls Softball State Championship Game on Saturday at Shelbyville Central High School.

After trailing 1-0 early, the Viqueens exploded for six runs in the second inning and never looked back. Community added another run in the third before putting the game away with three more runs in the sixth inning to cap off an impressive championship performance.

Community finished with 12 hits on the afternoon, led by a huge offensive effort from several players. The Viqueens lineup stayed hot throughout the game.

In the circle, Prince was outstanding once again, tossing a complete game while allowing just one run on five hits and striking out 15 batters in a dominant championship outing.

The Viqueens capped off an incredible postseason run by defeating Kingston, Unicoi County, and Marion County on their way to the Class 2A state title.

Congratulations to the players, coaches, families, and fans on an unforgettable championship season.

Hendon Ho**er Headed to the Titans

Local sources are confirming that Hendon Ho**er is headed to the Tennessee Titans. The move is real and is now taking shape as the team continues to evaluate its quarterback position heading into the next phase of the offseason.

Ho**er, a former Tennessee Volunteers standout, remains one of the most recognizable quarterbacks to come through the program in recent years. His return to the state brings immediate familiarity and interest, but this move is rooted in roster construction, not headlines.

Since entering the NFL, Ho**er has yet to establish himself as a long-term starter and has spent his time working through depth charts and development roles. That places him in a position where he represents a practical addition for a team looking to build depth and create competition within the quarterback room.

The Titans have made it clear that they are continuing to evaluate their options at the position. Bringing Ho**er into the mix gives them another arm with experience, mobility, and a proven track record at the college level. It also provides a low-risk opportunity to see if he can develop into something more within the right system.

This move is not about immediate expectations. It is about adding a capable option, strengthening the room, and allowing competition to play out.

Hendon Ho**er is coming back to Tennessee, and the Titans are adding a quarterback who still has something to prove.

Bedford County Basketball Teams Set for Regional Tournament Play

Postseason basketball continues this week as all six Bedford County high school teams prepare for regional tournament competition under the TSSAA single-elimination format. Shelbyville Central, Cascade, and Community will each send both their boys and girls programs into regional quarterfinal matchups with the opportunity to advance toward sectional play and a state tournament berth.

On the boys side, Shelbyville Central will host East Hamilton on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in Class 4A regional play. With district competition complete, the Golden Eagles now shift their focus to regional advancement, where a win would move them to the semifinals at Warren County High School on March 3.

In Class 2A, Cascade will travel to Hickman County on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The Champions face a tough road test but have an opportunity to advance to the regional semifinals at East Hickman High School. Community will also be on the road Saturday night, traveling to Lewis County for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff. A victory would send the Vikings to the semifinal round at East Hickman as well.

On the girls side, Shelbyville Central will travel to Bradley Central on Friday at 7:00 p.m. in Class 4A regional play. If victorious, the Eaglettes would move into semifinal competition at Warren County High School on March 2.

Cascade’s girls will travel to Hickman County on Friday night for a 7:00 p.m. regional matchup in Class 2A. Community’s girls will also be on the road Friday, taking on Riverside at 7:00 p.m. Both teams, with a win, would advance to the regional semifinals at East Hickman High School.

Regional play is single elimination. A win keeps the season alive and moves teams one step closer to sectional games and a potential state tournament appearance. A loss ends the season.

Bedford County fans have multiple opportunities this weekend to support local teams as they compete across Middle Tennessee.

Kaegan Young Named Tennessee Miss Basketball Candidate
Cascade Standout Earns Statewide Recognition

Bedford County has something to celebrate.

Cascade High School’s Kaegan Young has been named a Tennessee Miss Basketball candidate in Class AA — one of the highest individual honors a high school player can receive in this state. This recognition places her among the elite players in Tennessee and confirms what Cascade fans have known for years: Kaegan Young is one of the very best to ever wear the Lady Champions uniform.

Miss Basketball isn’t about one big night. It’s about a body of work. It’s about leadership, consistency, and the ability to rise when the moment demands it. Young has delivered that throughout her career. She has been the offensive engine for Cascade, a reliable scorer who can take over a game, but also a steady presence who understands pace, control, and discipline.

Reaching the 1,000-point milestone in her career was more than a number — it was proof of sustained excellence. That kind of production doesn’t happen without work. It doesn’t happen without commitment. It certainly doesn’t happen without the willingness to carry responsibility every single night.

What separates Young is not just scoring. It’s her competitiveness. It’s her ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor. It’s the confidence she brings into every matchup. When Cascade needs a basket, a stop, or composure in a tight moment, she has consistently been the answer.

Her signing with UT Southern further validates her development and potential at the next level. College programs don’t offer scholarships based on hype. They invest in players who have proven themselves through performance and character. Young has done both.

For Cascade, this nomination reflects the strength of the program. For Bedford County, it is a reminder that elite talent is being developed right here at home. For Young herself, it is recognition earned through years of discipline and dedication.

Being named a Miss Basketball candidate is an honor few achieve. It places Kaegan Young in rare company and ensures her name will be remembered among the greats of Cascade basketball.

Shelbyville NOW and Bedford County Sports congratulates Kaegan Young on this outstanding achievement. The entire community stands behind her as she continues her journey.
