We are saddened to hear of the passing of Loy Paige, a true baseball enthusiast and an important part of our community’s rich American Legion baseball history.

Loy proudly played left field on the Shelby American Legion team that won the World Series in 1945, making an unforgettable impact on that championship run. He led the team with an impressive .417 batting average, showcasing both his talent and his love for the game.

We honor his legacy, his contributions to Shelby baseball, and the joy he brought to the sport he loved. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who cherished him.

Thank you, Loy, for the mark you left on the field and in our hearts. ⚾️🕊️

Loy Arnold Paige, 97, of Shelby passed away on Monday evening, November 24. He was preceded in death by his parents William Romie Paige and Flossie Towery Paige and his beloved wife, Margie Proctor Paige. Mr. Paige is survived by two daughters, Karen Paige Kroncke James and Lisa Paige Hall
