Tech Friday.

Quarter midget rear bumper. The best drivers start bumper to bumper. They are tight in the pack at the start, and the trick is to push but not look like you're pushing. This push keeps the car spun up and ready to pass into the first turn. Push too hard and spin the car out in front of you, and you'll be going to the back. But in the rules, two cars have to go to the back. So opponents will take themselves out knowing they're taking someone with them.

Here's where the triangle bumper comes in. It's hard for opponents to push the triangle while someone is pushing you because the car won't stay square, and the two cars behind you will go to the back.

Ask the kids pushing; they hate the triangle bumper, and the kid running the triangle bumper loves it because it reduces the push on their own car.

It's not that they just look cool; they have a purpose and a function that creates an advantage.

The cars we ran were all G17's; they came with square bumpers, and the triangle was not an option. Sometimes you have to make your advantage. It can't be bought.

Tech Thursday.

Sometimes the rule books don’t give you the actual number you're allowed to cut the deck or the head; instead, they give you the CC column number, and you have to calculate it. It takes longer, but once you have the number, you never have to do it again.

The games they play are not necessary, but it’s okay; we will play by your rules.

Every word in the rule book means something. Every number means something also. There is a way to achieve it all; you just have to start by figuring out what it means. There are no mistakes; every word is deliberate. The most complicated procedures are usually the biggest gains. It’s a puzzle or a riddle. It’s a minimum to keep you off the max and the opposite number to keep you guessing on the direction. Heavy vs. light, or min vs. max, or advanced vs. re****ed.

First, you have to know which direction to go. The map is easy once you know, but impossible the first time you look at it.

Many look and say it’s clear - nothing you can do - and those are the ones that don’t see the path among the trees. Keep on looking!

was a blast! Racing at night is always very exciting. Theres something about rolling out onto the track for a feature race under the lights that adds a little prestige! ✨️

With SR Honda being the most competitive class at this track we had a total of 14 cars to try and beat for the win. P3 to p2 in our heat put us 5th in the A main and showed me the car was close. Been working like a mad man trying to get our dirt setup dialed in since coming off the pavement.

The A main had a lot of contact from about 4th back. Lost count on yellows but maybe 10. Ozzy was ready to race and was up on the wheel the whole time staying clean up front. He worked up to 3rd and fought hard with the top 3 guys. We got a yellow on a restart towards the end, had to drop back 2 positions (restart zone), then wheel it back up there. Our race timed out at 20 minutes while we were running 3rd. Not where we wanted to finish but with some more seat time on the dirt we will be standing on that tall block soon!!

Congrats to our guy Ozzy on his first podium finish circle track dirt racing at I-5 Quarter Midget Club! 🏁 Thank you to the club for giving us a good track to race on!
