Calling all Shasta Lake boaters!

In preparation for those who will be joining us on the water July 3rd to watch the drone show, here is your checklist for tomorrow's show.

•Download the drone show app for the soundtrack here: https://player.skyetunes.com/
The audio crew at the dam will also be broadcasting the soundtrack on 88.3 FM

•Ensure all navigational lights are working and PFD (life jackets) for everyone on board your vessel. Also ensure your fire extinguisher is serviceable.

• The 1,000 ft distance from Shasta Dam will be applied. The Sheriff's department will be patrolling this area and will enforce people keeping out. Lake Shasta Cavern's WWII landing craft (Elsie), Cavern Queen and Cavern Princess will be used as indicators of where the line is.

• At 9:20pm, before the start of the show, we request that all boats turn off their decorative lights and have only their navigation lights on.

• During the show we request that all boating activity cease, unless required if drifting away or in case of emergency.

• After the show, The Cavern Queen and Elsie will be piloting back to their port on the McCloud Arm, and will be the lead boat for those who would like to follow back to several marinas on the lake. We will be passing Diggers Bay, Bridge Bay, Shasta Marina at Packers Bay and Holiday Harbor.

• While underway, decorative lights must be turned off to avoid confusing other boaters. The speed limit on Shasta Lake at night is 15 mph.

• If possible, for those who are spending the night on their boats, it is much safer to chose a close shoreline and stake up for the night. This creates less traffic on the lake at night and reduces possible collisions. Once the vessel is secured, the decorative lights can be turned back on.

• Please, please, PLEASE no BUI's (Boating Under the Influence). This is a historic celebration and it would be a shame if it were marred by an incident. Especially if it caused by an incapacitated boat captain.

The best viewing will be between the straight green lines on the map. Drones will be lifting off from the upper Centimudi Parking lot. Ideal viewing spots will be between Fisherman's Point to Dam Point/Mouth of Dry Creek Inlet. Unlike traditional fireworks, closer is not necessarily better. You want to be set back a bit so that you can see the images and animations.

This is too touching not to share! 🥹❤️

The Miles Family is one of our sponsors and their contribution is on behalf of the loss of a beloved family member who had a true love of Shasta Lake. Below is a quote from the family.

"Elliot Miles (February 8, 1986 – September 20, 2024) loved life, his wife Tam, and spending time with friends and family. And he especially loved Shasta Lake. The high point of each year was a week with friends and family on the lake, renting a houseboat, wake surfing, and soaking up the magical ambiance that is The Lake. He is greatly missed by a wide circle of family, friends, and coworkers."

I spoke with Elliot's father and there is no doubt that Shasta Lake had a special place in Elliot's heart. My recollection of our conversation is that Elliot had an annual ritual of renting a houseboat during the 4th of July weekend for his friends and family.

To the Miles Family, we are sorry for your loss. We hope this 4th of July celebration would make Elliot proud and spreads the love for Shasta Lake as he did. ❤️
