Pine Belt President's Letter
Greetings Fellow Members,
I wanted to take a few moments to recap this past year and look towards our plans for the upcoming year. During the past year, we undertook several projects to sustain or improve the infrastructure and shooter experience at Pine Belt Sportsman’s Club.
We started by implementing a target card system for trap practice which also serves as our membership registry. This ensures that every trap target thrown is paid for in advance. As a result of this upgrade, we have presold thousands of targets and collected detailed information on the number of targets thrown each day. Daily shooters (formerly non-members) now sign the same legal waiver required of annual and life members. Our active membership has grown to 620 members with daily shooters added to our email distribution list.
We stoned both driveways and filled in low spots along the concrete around the buildings and trap walkways. Four light poles were replaced and all the field lights were refreshed. The outdoor area lights were upgraded to LEDs as were the interior lights in the clubhouse, resulting in maintenance and energy savings. A wall locker was installed in the backroom for better security. Both the s***t building and pavilion roofs were replaced, and a new door was installed on the s***t building. The large television in the clubhouse was upgraded to a larger 4K ultra high-definition TV. A handicap-compliant ramp was added to the front entrance, reducing the jarring of the microphones as they are moved in and out of the building. New smoke detectors have been installed, and the emergency lighting has been repaired or replaced as needed. An additional golf cart was purchased to support multiple or large events. Six trap machines were relocated to balance the wear and tear on the equipment, promoting longer overall equipment life.
There are several projects already underway for this year. Lead recovery is scheduled to begin on June 16th and will include areas around the s***t fields and woods, promoting a higher yield. Work to replace the remaining six original light poles is already complete. Evergreen trees have been planted along the s***t driveway to obscure vehicle traffic. We planted 160 trees and your contribution to the tree fund, by dropping a few dollars in the powder jug on the counter, is greatly appreciated. Finally, we are obtaining pricing to update the ladies’ bathroom.
I hope to see you all at the club soon.
Bob
