BOULDERING AREA CLOSURE

Our bouldering area is getting an update! We’ll be replacing the foam in our bouldering mats Oct 26- 30.
The bouldering area will be fully closed on the 26th.
Sections will reopen as work is completed.
Bouldering area anticipated to fully reopen Oct 30.
Fitness area will open every evening throughout the project, with possible daytime access when work isn’t in progress.

Members and punch pass holders can enjoy free rental harnesses for auto-belays October 26–30.

Thanks for giving us a little room to improve! We can’t wait for you to experience the revamped pads.

We're lucky to climb in some pretty wondrous places. Let's do our part to keep them that way.

At Shaker Rocks, cleanliness is a core value. That doesn't stop at the gym doors! It extends to the outdoor climbing areas we're fortunate enough to enjoy, too.

Places like the Red River Gorge and New River Gorge are special, and we are lucky to live so close to them. Access to these areas is a privilege and not something we should take for granted. As climbers, we all share a responsibility to protect these natural spaces.

That means practicing Leave No Trace principles: pack out what you pack in, respect the natural environment, and leave rocks and trees as you found them. It also means looking out for one another, making responsible decisions, and prioritizing safety when we climb.

Cleanliness is more than keeping things tidy. It's about respect for our natural world and our community.

We can all do better. Let's take care of the places that let us do what we love, and make sure they're just as beautiful for the next climber as they were for us.

We’ve made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Burning River Boulder Battle. Sadly, we didn’t reach the enrollment needed to make the event possible this year.
Earlier this year, we asked our community what they wanted from Burning River, and we heard a clear preference for a one-day competition. We listened, changed the format, and tried something new. It didn’t come together this time, but we want to keep listening.
If you were interested but decided not to register, we’d really love to hear why. Was the date, price, format, or something else a factor? Your feedback will help us build the best Burning River possible.
