Two years ago today, I got clean.
The road to get here was filled with everything I used to run from—pain, fear, grief, loss… all the things I tried to numb for so long. I had to face every single one of them head on. There were moments I didn’t think I’d make it through the hour, but I did. One breath, one step at a time.
I carry that journey with me every day.
Throughout this entire process of opening this gym, flashbacks of my life with Wes (my daughters dad) has been flooding my memory. His life pretty much revolved around working out, and it paid off because he was not hard to look at, lol 😍.. his passion for it was amazing and his drive an ambition to become his best physical self, well it was nothing less than inspiring. He would not only push himself to become better, He would push those around him as well. He was a forced to be reckoned with he, one of a kind, a light in this world that is missed every single day. I have decided to honor him in a way that makes perfect sense to me by dedicating this gym to his memory. His memory will stay alive within these walls.!
Watching my daughter lose her dad was the deciding factor to get clean, there was no other option anymore. My granddaughter didn’t call me grandma and wasn’t comfortable when I was around. I couldn’t do it anymore. Those two girls didn’t just change my life—they saved it. Every single day, they give me a reason to keep going. I don’t just fight for myself anymore… I fight for them! Because they are what matters most to me.
My life today isn’t perfect, but it’s real. I’m present. I’m here. And I’m still fighting—stronger than I’ve ever been.
I’m living proof that you can completely change your life and accomplish things you didn’t even know were on the table …
I’m at a point where all I feel like doing is giving back, so this is what I wanna do.
