SMS Robotics Summer Camp 2026

Great week at Middle School Robotics Camp!

Thank you, SHS Robotics, for volunteering. Mallorie Misamore, Aiden Rodriguez, Jacob Martin, Caleb Baker, Caitlynne Bowers, Sam Wells, Kaeden Leonard.

We enjoyed playing the Microbit Among Us, designed by Mr. Burnette; ElecFreaks kits making a claw arm; programming Microbits; and programming and driving Sphero Bolts.

We had a great fieldtrip today to Freeman Field Army Airfield Museum.
Special thank you to Larry, Joe, CJ, and Tom for hosting and being our tour guides. The students had so much fun learning about WWII, old tech, and history!

Huge shout-out out thank you to JCIDC for making this camp happen. Lots of new problem solving, memories, smiles, and friendships were made this week.

2026-2027 Seymour Robotics V5 Team is off to a great start!
Day 1:
Start with Coach Miller's discussion accountability, inventory, and team expectations.
Guest speakers: Micah Yee, Ethan Rubin, Eliana Baker, Kayla Baker, Coach Jamie kicked off camp with talks on failure and rebuild, team work, organizing teams, and getting along, college, and life after high school.

Day 2:
Guest Speakers: David Cox on Judging.
We had 6 station topics team rotated:
Corey LeBlanc: The Why, troubleshooting.
Michael and Jamie Baker: Pneumatics
Kaeden Leonard: Motors
Ethan Rubin: Calipers
Anthony Rushing: Machine Safety in the tool room.
David Cox: Interviews
Ended the night with a parent meeting.
Day 3&4 will be team discussion, planning, and hopefully building.
Eli Wood : college, internships, and careers.

Learning never stops!

Nikita Cox and Dallas Goeker hosted a couple sessions on Odometry over the past couple weeks for our Jackson county V5 teams at SMS.

It was so impressive to see how much Nikita has grown over the past several years and the advanced level of expertise.

Thank you Dallas for sharing your wealth of knowledge with our students.

That's a wrap for 2025-2026 season.
Team 31330D had the best State Competition to date. They plan to level up next year and hopefully earn that spot to Worlds.
