Weekend Bento Box Update: This new bento box project is developing well. I have been finalizing the carbon fiber layout schedule and methods as well as working with a new epoxy mixture that is working out well. Shown below are some of the box pieces out of the mold before trim. The parts shown are right out of the heating oven where they cure for 20 minutes at 450 degrees. I will be going from the development stage to the production stage very soon. I plan to make them available soon to those that are looking for the only carbon fiber bento box on the market, so stay tuned.

Another bento box update. Shown is the first bento box out of the molds shown a couple of weeks ago, overall, it turned out really well. It has a quick matte black finish applied to see how it looks. I am looking at the primmer and paint strategy now as this is the only product I have that has a painted finish. This box has a marine grade plastic opening hinge with aircraft quality stainless steel hardware. The closure method will either be via magnet or low profile velco.

Another update on the newly designed bento storage box. I have pulled the first carbon fiber pieces out of the molds for the main body and I am tweaking the design of the molding tooling. I am also in the process of creating the machining jigs and fixtures for the CNC machine. Overall, while still looking pretty rough, the carbon lay up worked out as planned, so stay tune for more updates in coming week.

Well, it has finally started. I am in the process of machining the newly designed triathlon bike bento (storage) box molds. I used to make a generic box several years ago but had to stop due to other carbon fiber part production needs. This new design will be very similar to the original design, but in a more streamlined shape. This will be the first of many new updates I will show over the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned. This picture represents the compression molded tool for the upper part of the box.

After a two year break from producing and selling our popular carbon fiber tire levers, we are bringing them back. We have had so many requests for these levers over the last couple of years, we knew we needed to find a way to get time to offer these again. Check them out if you get a chance.

Well it is prototype Tuesday and fresh off the 3D printer is a test pair of disc wheel valve opening covers. These pieces are 3D printed on our printer with rare earth magnets pressed into the molded in bosses. The covers are ~1mm thick on the outside of the wheel and have a carbon fiber decal applied to them for a really cool looking effect. It takes approximately 10 pounds of force to pull the covers apart, so they will stay good in tight on the wheel when racing. These covers are used on a Zipp 900 disc wheel as shown. Testing of the covers will begin when the temperature gets above 45 degrees.
