🚨 Gymnastics Lane has sold🚨
After 20 incredible years in the sport of gymnastics and 17 years as the proud owner of Gymnastics Lane, Angie Villarreal is officially retiring from gymnastics and beginning an exciting new chapter.
Effective September 1, Gymnastics Lane will be under the ownership of Kirstyn Buffington, a former Gymnastics Lane gymnast and Seymour High School gymnast. There is something incredibly special about passing Gymnastics Lane on to someone who grew up within the program and understands the culture, community, and legacy that have been built over the past 17 years.
What began with just 10 kids has grown into a program serving nearly 200 athletes. Even more meaningful, many of the children walking through the doors of Gymnastics Lane today are the children of athletes who grew up in the program themselves.
For Angie, that generational connection is one of the greatest measures of what Gymnastics Lane has become.
“When I started Gymnastics Lane 17 years ago, we had 10 kids. I could have never imagined that one day we would have nearly 200 kids in our program, or that I would eventually be coaching the children of kids I once coached. There is something incredibly special about seeing former gymnasts walk back through these doors as parents and trust us with their own children. That’s when you realize this became so much more than gymnastics.
For 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of watching kids learn their first cartwheel, overcome fears, win competitions, experience disappointment, build confidence, and grow into incredible young adults. I’ve watched gymnasts become coaches, teammates become lifelong friends, and families become part of our family.
This decision comes with so many emotions because Gymnastics Lane has been such a huge part of my life and who I am. But I also know it’s the right time. I’m incredibly proud of what we built together, and there is something very full-circle about handing Gymnastics Lane to Kirstyn, someone who was once one of the kids in this program herself. I know she will love these athletes and this program while building a legacy of her own.

For Angie, retirement also means having more time for the role she treasures most, being Mom.
She looks forward to cheering on her son, Lane, as he competes in collegiate swimming this coming season; chasing her two-year-olds, Andrew and Austyn; watching Turner ride dirt bikes and pursue his passion for band; and cheering on her oldest daughter, Kyla, through all of her sports and activities.
After 20 years of practices, meets, long nights, early mornings, celebrations, challenges, and unforgettable memories, Angie leaves gymnastics with a full heart and tremendous gratitude for every athlete, parent, coach, and family who has been part of the journey.
September 1 won’t simply mark the end of an era. It will mark the beginning of two new chapters.
One for Angie and her family, and one for Kirstyn and the future of Gymnastics Lane.
From 10 kids to nearly 200. From coaching children to coaching their children.
