I really need an experienced manual machinist to help at the shop. Someone who is competent on manual lathes, indicating, turning, threading, etc... as we move forward implementing our plans for growth in the near future, it would be the perfect time to get the right candidate familiar with the rifle and smokeless muzzleloader building processes that we use to build some of the most consistently accurate rifles available. I know I haven't been posting very much lately, but to be completely honest, there just hasn't been time. Basically , working 7 days a week, and long hours each day.
But, there has been a tremendous amount of work leaving the shop, and a tremendous amount still to be finished up, and this one was probably, my favorite so far.
She stared life as a Smith and Wesson, 629 Classic.
She has all her cylinders uniformed, and frame blueprinted, to guarantee perfect alignment of the cylinders and barrel bore. Started with a full diameter stainless barrel blank, and machined her to fit and profiled. Machined a picatinny rail and added some new grips. Reworked the trigger for a crisp break with no creep, and got her all dressed up and ready to look good, posing with some deer and hogs.
She was an absolute pleasure to host in the shop, for a while at least.......now she's back home and ready to work.

Sometimes, amongst all the rush and craziness, all the early mornings and very late nights, and the time away from your family.......you just have to shut the doors and take a trip. Go be with family and loved ones, go be with who's important, and do some of the little things,....like drill a hole in a nice hog, with a suppressed socom, that you built with your own hands.
I'm as guilty as anyone has ever been about working too much and neglecting friends, family, and my own personal self.
Like it or not, time will eventually run out, and you need to slow down a bit, enjoy some life, and........yes....
shoot some pigs......they're delicious.

When you're trying to squeeze a little 14,500 pound machine through a hole in the wall that's almost the same dimension as the machine, and then having to force it into a small shop, square it, and level it, it pays to have some of the finest friends a fella can get.
There's absolutely zero chance that I could ve doing everything that I do now, if it weren't for my friends being there for me in times like this.
If you don't have some really awesome friends..........you better get your butt out and find some.

Side note...... the shop is about to start turning out some very cool toys , for all the good boys and girls out there.

Nice lil R***r that's all ready to go back home. Blueprinted the frame, uniformed the cylinder throats, polished the trigger components, machined a new barrel from a blank, ported it, had Smitty at Corded Arms to cerakote her , polished out the trigger, hammer, and accessories and added some pretty nice dark walnut grips. Hopefully get her to the range tomorrow and see how she performs.

These puzzles are getting more realistic all the time.....and way more fun than they were when I was a kid. Hope they turn out just like the pictures on the box.....😉

New toys......tools.....I mean tools.....yeah, that's what I meant to say.....
Just adding to the rather extensive collection of quality chamber reamers to better serve the growing demand. Can't build great rifles without the proper tooling and machining knowledge to use them.
I'm grateful for my 32 years of making chips, from my first time laying eyes on a lathe, to my 15 plus years as a prototype machinist for the engineering department of a large automotive component manufacturer. All those parts and projects were training and preparing me to build some of the most consistently accurate rifles and smokeless muzzleloaders available today.
It's been a very long, very difficult road, and I want to take some time to thank all my friends and my family that pushed me, promoted me, and stood behind me this entire time.
Without you guys , I wouldn't have been able to make it this far, and this is actually, just the beginning.

Sure wish I hadn't pulled that first shot.....but.....I did.
Not the best ammo, but the ole girl shot it pretty decent, I'd say. Pulled the first one by not expecting the trigger on her, followed by the next 11 rounds at 15 yards. A drastic improvement over how she performed from the factory. The barrel was cross threaded and took quite a bit of " negotiations" to convince her to let go. Blueprinted the frame, uniformed the cylinder throats, machined a new barrel from a blank, full trigger service, fully nitride coated , machined the rail into the bottom of the barrel and machined a base for the top. She's gonna be right at home at the range or in the squirrel woods. Now, she's headed home to her family.

New project,.....as soon as time allows...

Bought this new R***r Wrangler with the soul purpose of building her to see exactly how accurate I can make her.
Trying to figure out exactly how I want her to be, possibly change the grip frame, blueprint the frame, machine a new barrel blank, and completely rework the trigger. Still up in the air about finished barrel length, barrel profile, optic or iron sights, and what grips I want. Plus, not sure about the finish either, but the one thing that I am sure of.......I want her to shoot then all through the same hole when she is finished, and for her to look good while she does it.
