Attention GH Boys Lax parents and page followers. It's been a while since we posted. We'll be making some updates and changes to this page in the coming weeks. We hope you're having a great summer.

Online registration for Spring 2021 is currently open! On time registration is 2/01/21 – 2/28/2021, late fees of $25 will be incurred for registrations on 3/1/21 or later. The seasons are tentatively set to begin 3/01/2021.

PLEASE NOTE: The Annual General Membership Fee: The $75 Family fee is an annual fee, effective each calendar year, January through December. This fee is assessed to each current family membership to help cover the costs of salaries, equipment, field maintenance, and other administrative costs to run all of our sports programs. THIS FEE APPLIES WHEN YOU REGISTER ONLINE FOR THE FIRST SPORT PLAYED IN THE CALENDAR YEAR USING YOUR MEMBER ACCOUNT.

Please keep in mind that should we need to cancel the season due to COVID-19 prior to the season starting (the season begins with the first practice), we will refund the amount of registration less the $20 administrative fee. The family fee will remain non-refundable, but will remain in your member account for subsequent seasons in 2021. Unfortunately, there are many costs associated with each season that must be paid prior to the season beginning.

Once the spring 2021 season (including practices) has started and if we get directives from Governor Hogan or from AA County rec and parks that we need to cancel the spring 2021 season due to COVID-19, there will be no refunds issued.

BOYS LACROSSE: Rec boy’s lacrosse for ages 08/31/2015 – 9/1/2005, and Select boys lacrosse for boys 3rd grade through 8th grade. Any questions please contact: mailto:[email protected].

Coaches and Volunteers are always needed! Please register on our homepage and complete the 2 requirements if you haven’t already: 1) You must have a current AA County Parks and Rec background check, and 2) You must have a concussion training certificate on file with the GH Office.

SOCCER: Clinic Soccer (Pre-K and K), Select Girls and Boys soccer, you will need to know your child’s coach for registration, any questions please contact: [email protected].

BASEBALL: Rec baseball for boys and girls ages 08/31/2018 – 1/1/2002 and Travel baseball for boys U8-U14. Any questions please contact: [email protected].

SOFTBALL: Rec softball for girls ages 1/1/2006 – 12/31/2015 and Select softball for 14U/16U/18U. We are looking for a Softball commissioner for the upcoming season. If you would be interested, please email: [email protected].

BOYS LACROSSE: Rec boy’s lacrosse will be traditional AACO format for ages 08/31/2015 – 9/1/2005. Select boys lacrosse for boys 3rd grade through 8th grade with games on Saturdays with a weekday practice at Kinder Farm Park or Cypress Creek. All K-2 games will be intramural style with games at Shipley's Choice or Kinder Farm Park. Any questions please contact: [email protected].

Greater Severna Park Athletic Assoc

Attention 2024 players and families. Mesa is thrilled to announce Willie Downs, Jake Scott, and Walt Dearborn as the coaches of the 2024 team.

Willie Downs - 2024 Head Coach - Willie graduated from Arundel High School in 2005, where he played midfield and served as the team's face-off man. He continued his career at AACC, where he led his team to a Final Four appearance. He then played for the Towson Lacrosse Club, where he graduated in 2011. He then returned to AACC, where he served as the team's offensive coordinator and face-off coach for three years. He then coached varsity at Severna Park's High School, where he helped the team win three State Championships in a row. He currently works at NSA.

Walt Dearborn - 2024 Assistant Coach - Walt played lacrosse and graduated from Old Mill High School in 2002. He then attended Towson University, earning his degree in Exercise Science. He was an assistant coach at Old Mill High School for two years and at AACC for three years and he was the head junior varsity coach at Severna Park for five years. He is currently the head freshman coach at Loyola Blakefield. He is a certified personal trainer and teaches Health Education at Towson University.

Jake Scott - 2024 Assistant Coach - Jake graduated from Conestoga High School in Berwyn, PA in 2014, where he was a 4-year letterwinner, captain of the team in his senior year, a member of back-to-back state championship teams, a US Lacrosse Academic All-American, and an Under Armour All-America Underclass. He also played for Mesa for five years. He continued his career at Harvard, graduating in 2018, and recently received his Master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Jake currently teaches English and is an assistant varsity lacrosse coach at Gilman.

A message from the Executive Director of the Green Hornets:

I hope you and your loved ones are all home and safe, are practicing social distancing and learning how to navigate our new (temporary) normal. We are all in this together and are taking the situation one day at a time. I have high hopes that our community will survive and will be stronger than ever when this is over. I wanted to update you with some information about the current status of Green Hornets spring sports.

For the spring season, Green Hornets is currently following the direction of Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks, local government and the various leagues that we participate in as to how we will proceed with spring sports. Our current position is that we are in a delayed start, with the full expectation to play at some point in the season. We may be able to proceed with shortened seasons depending on the decisions of Rec and Parks and local government. If the season is cancelled, we will contact you and issue the appropriate refunds.

For the summer and fall seasons, Green Hornets is hopeful and currently preparing for those seasons. Again, we will know more in the coming weeks as to the certainty of those seasons and how to proceed.

Just a reminder: all county parks are currently open. However, the playground portion of all county parks are CLOSED to help stop the spread of the virus. Please remember that practices formal or informal shall not be taking place. We need to support social distancing to protect our community.

“I cannot stress this enough: Marylanders need to stay in place at home to slow the spread of this deadly virus.” Said Governor Larry Hogan.
