1942 Chris Craft Special Runabout

1942 Chris Craft Special Runabout This is the project of rebuilding a 1942 Chris Craft Special Anthem was built by my father Peter A. Geis and launched in 1985.

She had an extensive racing history including the 1998 winner in class of the Newport - Bermuda race, and winner of the Thomas Flemming Day award for the fastest corrected yacht under 38 feet. After the 2000 racing season, she lay dormant in the Magothy River and suffered much rotting of the plywood deck and bulkheads. In 2005 I hauled her out and assessed the damage. I was hoping for a quick fix

but there was too much damage for that. I spent the next 5 years rebuilding my house before starting the rebuilding of Anthem in 2011. My goal is the 2017 Bermuda 1-2 but there is still much to do.

Things are moving along. The chines have been steam bent and I have made a few of the auxiliary frames. Still need to refine all I have done to make everything fit perfectly.

I have no idea why Facebook will not let me post this video. See it here: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/yt1n9ZXW7Jw
The hardest part of a new project is getting started. I am looking for any advice, criticisms or suggestions. Or if you would like to come to Severna Park I would welcome you and your advice. One thing I did not ask in the video is "should I add futtocks to the intermediate ribs"? There were none on the original intermediate ribs, but I would like to make this boat stronger in that this is the area of the rudder ad prop struct. I could also add a futtock later. Anyway, thanks for looking.

I am looking to buy a moisture content meter. Any suggestions? Is pin less better? Does one with pins have to be pushed in 1/2 inch?
