Let's talk about burpees. You either love them or you hate them. There is no in between. (You know who you are. ๐Ÿ˜‚)

But here's the thing, whether you're all in or counting down to the last one, form matters. A sloppy burpee is how you end up with a sore wrist or a cranky lower back instead of a great workout.

The two most common things I see: people shooting their hips up first when they hit the floor instead of keeping their core engaged, and rushing the jump at the top just to get it over with.

Slow it down. Hips and chest hit the floor together. Core tight on the way up. And if you need to modify, step out instead of jumping into the plank position. It slows the whole movement down and keeps your form intact.

Better to modify and do it well than to push through and pay for it later. That goes for burpees and honestly most things in life.

I started this gym because I wanted to build a place where everyone who walked through the door felt like someone knew their name.

Some days that vision feels easy to hold. Other days, if I'm being honest, it's a lot. Running a small business means wearing every hat, coach, scheduler, marketer, problem solver, sometimes all before 9am.

But then there are the quiet moments. Before anyone arrives. Before the sweat and the laughter and the music. Just me and this space I built.

In those moments I am reminded of exactly why I started. This community. These people. What we have built together here.

I am so proud of this place. And I am not done yet. There are still people out there who haven't given themselves a chance. I'd love for this gym to be the place they do.

I came across this and couldn't stop thinking about it.

We talk a lot about getting stronger in this gym. But strength isn't always what happens in the weight room. Sometimes it's getting here when you really didn't want to. Sometimes it's starting over after a long break. Sometimes it's just deciding that you are worth the effort.

Whatever you are carrying right now, you are stronger than you think. We see it every single day in this gym.

When Dorothy first joined MY Fitness, she never imagined she'd be someone who worked out five days a week.

Today she attends Boot Camp three days a week, Bungee Fitness once a week, and Yoga once a week. And recently? She completed her very first Murph.

Let that sink in for a second.

But what inspires me most isn't just the milestone. It's the consistency she has built along the way. Week after week Dorothy shows up, works hard, supports the people around her, and keeps challenging herself.

Her journey is a reminder that fitness isn't about being perfect or starting at a certain level. It's about taking that first step, staying consistent, and discovering what you're capable of.

We are so proud of you Dorothy. This community is better because you are in it.

Every summer I watch people slow down on strength training because it's hot. And every September they come back frustrated they lost ground.

Here is the thing, you should slow down, but not in the way you think. Many people don't realize that training in summer, even indoors, raises your core temperature faster, which means your heart is working harder before you even pick up a weight. That is completely normal. But it does mean you stop, just adjust.

Summer is actually one of the best times to build. Less crowded, more focused, and 12 weeks to get ahead while everyone else takes a break.

I see it every June. The members who push through are always the ones who thank themselves in September. So yeah, slow down but keep up the work. ๐Ÿ’ช

This gym was built to be a place where anyone can walk through the door and feel like they belong. Where the only thing that matters is that you showed up. That has always been true here, not just this month.
