Fitness and fat loss truths.

The quiet struggles.

Since the implementation of social media things have gotten real real loud.

You often see the fruits of very hard labor posted to your Instagram feed.

You see shredded muscular men and women posing under perfect lighting and after a quick muscle pump.

You see these happy pictures of people Seemingly in their optimal zones living their best lives.

What you don’t see is there quiet struggles they are human just like you.

And all though they may look like perfect specimens. They are far from it.

You don’t know their quiet struggles the stuff they don’t post to social media.

They may battle, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, substance abuse, they may treat others like crap, they may be a complete scam of an influencer.

You don’t know the quietness

On this day in 2001 myself and my platoon were in the field training. I remember it very well. I was in the FDC vehicle. We got the “break break break” over commo. My platoon and I gather in and around the radio just for lack of a better word frozen... All of us scared, sad, angry, among other feelings; but all of us ready to deploy right then and there... I will never forget that day...

After about a two month diet break (didn’t count calories 😩, but made sure I ate more than enough protein). Back up to 212 pounds. But that will drop fast, since food in your system = pounds. Started back up Monday.

Hard pill to swallow about health, fitness, and weight/fat loss.

In order to keep the weight/fat off, or become healthier or more fit. You will probably have to become a different person than you currently are.

You CANT do the same things and get better results.

A reflection of 47 years:
My 47th birthday just passed, been reflecting on my life here are some things I have learned.

Fitness is a life long pursuit, play the long game not the short game. Be consistent with your exercise, nutrition, and expectations. I’ve made better results over the last year by just making it a priority and sticking to it. I’ve had ups and downs but I have gotten back on track every time. Even though it’s been hard with the lack of control I have on the foods around me and my schedule.

Friends come and go, be ok with the loneliness. Focus on those you don’t want to live without. They are the most valuable people.

Work on your issues (lord knows I have a lot, and have hurt many people due to unresolved trauma). Even if you’re doing things unintentionally it’s still wrong.

Controlling your reactions to things is the best for of self love and love of others.

I don’t really remember what innocence is anymore, I miss it. Don’t let the world harden your heart.

Work on you. Don’t stress out over others. Do your best at everything you do.

Try to follow through with things.

Be curious, never stop learning. Have a growth mindset. Take the lessons you’ve learned and put them into immediate action.

Learn about leadership, take courses, train for it, learn from how you wouldn’t want to be lead.

Be a doer.

Show people how to act through action.
