Craig Lisa and Tim "the Godfather" Grundmann began creating safer pitching screens for softball and baseball. They work well for Slow Pitch Softball, Fast Pitch Softball and Baseball.
Made out of solid, sturdy aluminum (except the net, wheels and screws/nuts/washers- which are all stainless steel or nylon (washers)), these screens are lightweight (25lbs), easy to maneuver (handle on one end and wheels on the other), and very, very durable. Pick up the screen by the handle and you are lifting approx. 7 lbs.
We took an old design and added more safety and features to it. It is 6'6" tall (because 6' isn't tall enough, and 40" wide. We use 60 # netting which is thicker/stronger than the old nets. (MLB uses 42 # netting behind home plate.)
We have been using prototypes for 2+ years and they have held up very well. Guys like Ryan Harvey, Bob Woldyk, Jack Aronson and many other POWER hitters that have absolutely drilled the nets and poles. Some of the poles have slight bends in them after 2 years of being smacked. When I say bent- it is a very slight bend, but they have not failed us. I just bend them back straight.
The screen cannot be knocked over by a batted ball. It hasn't happened yet (that we know about) and the power hitters mentioned above have tried!
Please visit our website at http://www.Godfatherscreens.net for more photos and videos of the product. Currently- the website is up and running, but the ordering part has not been connected properly. We are working on it, but Hurricane Irma has given us a week setback w/o power. Email us at [email protected] for ordering.
SALES: The basic screen assembly will be sold for $295.00 plus shipping and FL Sales Tax (if shipped to FL). Currently, we have a few refurbished screens that we are willing to part with for $200.00 (+ applicable shipping and tax). They are in "Like New" condition. These were also well used prototypes but have new paint, straight poles, new nets and new washers and/or wheels as needed. The wheels are basically indestructible. The refurbished nets are already built and have 42 # netting. They were already assembled prior to our decision to go to the heavier net. We fully expect the all of the nets to last for years, but if left outside- the elements may take their toll on the nets. That is why we also will sell replacement nets for $50.00 (plus shipping and tax).
This could very well be the last pitching screen you ever buy.
We fully expect to add to our product list a larger version of the screen, but with a "Sock" in the center for hitting off of a tee. The sock catches the balls and drops them down at the bottom. We are currently testing that prototype. It is the same construction as the Pitching Screen, only wider. It, too, can be used as a pitching screen!
